You are correct. I apparently misspelled my (wrong) answer. Neptune was what I meant.
"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in." April 15, 2022, 01:52 PM

It was an experimental biological weapon intended to take over and sabotage the bridge and control systems.
There've been precedents set during times of desperation:
"But not all the weapons invented during World War II were quite as effective—some were downright strange. Bat bombs, exploding rats, wind cannons, and fecal sprays were just some of the bizarre weapons invented during the conflict. While some were used in combat, others never progressed beyond the initial testing phase."

David LeeThere is a video which I now cannot locate of the ship in tow, no flames and it goes under bow first. Rather quickly at that. No tow vessel in sight. Massive damage to its starboard side. That explosion was very large.

That's because it is a clickbait fake video of a DDG at SINKEX.

David LeeSorry about that. You are correct Mars. Just caught that myself .

saigonsmugglerI guess the heavy weather and high seas at the time must've kept the 2 streaking wave height Neptune missiles hidden from the Moskva's search radars. Moskva has 6 AK630 CIWS guns with radar fire control that can be switched on in automatic mode. Usually sea skimmers would pop up at the last seconds to dive on the ship, which would allow the CIWS guns to engage. Maybe the Neptune missiles don't do this pop up stage?
Either way, the Neptune missiles must've flown really close to the wave tops. This is probably more advanced than our rather old Harpoons.

David LeeI would enjoy seeing the actual Bahm Bahm..kaboom and fizzle. Gotta be footage somewhere. The Ukraines generally have vids and this would be a important undertaking to not film.

This one?

The quality is poor and it’s hard to be sure, but it doesn’t seem to be the same ship as this one. The proportions seem wrong, and I can’t see any of the distinctive missile launch tubes that are shown on all the other photos of the ship I have found on line.

I just saw the comment by
Mars_Attacks. Same thing? (I don’t know what a “DDG” is.)

The DD designation is usually used for Destroyers who have primary gun armament
DDG is a Guided-Missile Destroyer whose primary armament is guided missiles...usually for anti-aircraft screening

2BobTannerIf Tom Clancy was still alive, he’d use this incident in a novel. I’d bet there’re classified reports about what really happened, and that classes eventually will be taught at the Naval War College about it.

I hardly think the sinking of one ship, cause unknown (I don't believe what either side is putting out), recalls, for example, Coral Sea, Midway or Leyte Gulf.

I hope someone can get them more of some type of anti ship weaponry.
I honestly think those were American anti-ship missiles. A few weeks ago there was press that we would be sending anti-ship missiles to Ukraine.
Its a nice cover story to say that it was home grown Ukrainian Neptune missiles. Uh huh.
We have been dying to try American technology on Russian warships and this was the perfect opportunity. Just make a nice flashy story to go along with the deception...

Gonna see if Reddit video embedding works. If not, video of one of their "news" stations and what they're saying about this is at the link. It's... interesting.

Yeah, that 'article' is pure hype. This was NOTHING like Bismarck, Yamato, or the Battle of Tsushima.

It’s more akin to the naval Battle of Tsushima in May 1905 during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-05. It was a major disaster for the Russian Navy which had lasting affects on the internal politics of Czarist Russia.
Putin will be remembered for launching a war on a weaker neighboring country, which was assumed to be quick, but has now gone on for over two months. The loss of the flagship of the Black Fleet, and the on-going arrests of senior military and naval personnel have echoes of the Stalin purges in the 1930s.
