This could have been worse than the 1977 Tenerife disaster (583 lives when two 747s collided on a fogged over runway). 140 lives onboard the Air Canada A320 and four planes on the taxiway could have driven the death toll to 700. Unthinkable carnage.

IcabodRemember the pilot that landed at the wrong airport. The private field was on the flight route but 6 miles short of their destination. The pilot landed on a runway just half the regular distance. Fun part was lightening the plane so it could take off. Think they had just enough fuel to get to the right airport.

28L is also where this happened. Well, 2-1/2 miles short of 28L.

220-9erI'd call that a precision landing compared to this Delta flight.
