Rep. Gaetz takes stand against proposal for wind farms in Gulf of Mexico Login/Join

Ok. I agree with him. What is the NW Florida military mission? Flying jets out of Eglin???

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The Biden Administration announced Wednesday that they are weighing whether to offer the first-ever land lease sale for offshore wind energy in the Gulf of Mexico.

The US Department of Interior says they are proposing to open up over 300,000 acres of offshore areas near Lake Charles, Louisiana and Galveston, Texas to create 3.6 gigawatts of energy, or enough power to provide electricity to nearly 1.3 million homes.

WEAR News reached out to Northwest Florida Congressman Gaetz after hearing about the proposal, and asked if he believes there could be any impact to the Northwest Florida Military Mission.

Gaetz's Office says he previously addressed the environmental impacts of wind farms on the Gulf Coast while introducing an amendment to H.R. 21, which ensured the protection of Florida's coast from drilling.

Matt Gaetz introduces bill to prevent Adam Schiff from viewing classified documents
"The American Bird Conservancy predicts that if the 20% national goal for wind to contribute to our electricity portfolio, if that actually happens and that's Biden's goal, it would potentially kill at least one million birds a year by 2030," Gaetz previously stated on his "Firebrand" podcast.

The congressman sent WEAR News this statement Thursday on his stance on wind energy expanding in the Gulf:

Although the proposed leases for offshore wind farms in the Gulf of Mexico are west of the Military Mission Line, the substantial harm to the environment caused by the turbines outweighs any theoretical benefits.
Regardless, experimental hypersonic missiles shouldn't be flying over oil rigs. Special operators shouldn't be parachuting into windmill farms. This is a dangerous precedent the Biden Administration is attempting to set, and I will continue fighting against any encroachment that threatens the Military Mission Line.

Aren’t the off shore wind farm folks killing a bunch of whales off the east coast right now doing underwater surveys that are messing up the whales sonar and causing them to beach?

What happens when two of the left’s biggest crusades (“green” energy and animal “rights”) collide?

What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

Recently there has been several companies wanting to build wind farms off the coast of Louisiana but the "STATE" prior to approval is saying that these wind farms will have to pay taxes on the wind generated electric power.. Some of these companies have spoke out about some of the state strong arm tactics.. State wants to get their piece of the pie.............................. drill sgt.

If you can get past the Nitwit Moore's name being involved w/ this video, it's an interesting watch, but here's the answer behind green energy: https://youtu.be/Zk11vI-7czE?t=592
(should start at 9:52. Watch previous to this mark if you have time.)

There was a bunch that beached themselves on NJ shore in one month when they were testing for windmill locations.

I’m not sure if it was ever proven but it ended after they quit locating future windmill locations.

Eglin, Duke, whiting, Pensacola NAS, Choctaw, Spencer field. There’s several other outlying fields as well in his district including where I live. I don’t want the birds or whales injured.

Not sure about seagulls, but I believe there are documented cases of land-based ones killing eagles.

All these wind farms where ever they are placed jack up military radar. Personally, any wind energy system above something that you would have at your place of residence or a location where there is "constant" wind is a waste of resources. If the U.S. wants reliable electrical power, go nuclear or go home.

I also detest the destruction of scenic beauty these windmill's cause. There are hundred's, maybe thousands in No. Central Or. and So. Central Wa. They are an absolute blight on the landscape. Not to mention the mega ton's of raw material it takes to do one of them. Save the planet, oh sure Roll Eyes

Likewise. Flora, Fauna, both hammered with these monstrosities.
The link gives a sort of establishment take on it but even that has some interesting points, one being that there isn't a good place to get a number on how many of these things there are because of the permitting process. It's well north of 200 though.

One of the biggest NIMBY cases of all time was when someone wanted to put up electricity-generating windmills in the ocean off of Martha's Vinyard. No windmills off the coast of Martha's Vinyard.

Personally I'd like to see oil derricks off of Newport Beach, CA, but the prospects don't look too bright.

Problem solved. We can just go back to using whale oil.
