Recommendations for a quality basic treadmill?
We've had a couple inexpensive (<$250) Weslo treadmills from Walmart. Neither lasted very long. The first one puked up the control board, the second one wore the belt so bad it started slipping and couldn't be adjusted. This is with them being used 30 minutes a day, 5 or so days a week.

Mrs. PHPaul is increasingly sensitive to the cold and misses walking every day. Since the B-i-L moved out, we have his room for a "gym" and she wants to try another "better" treadmill.

Don't need pre-programmed exercise routines, power incline, fancy displays or audio - just a basic machine to walk on that won't crap out in a year.

Advice on brands, models and sources appreciated.

i am not any kind of an expert. But you might check Nordic track. We have a simple ski machine that we bought new about thirty years ago. Built very good. I am using it these days for exercise. Been a great machine. Good luck.

Sole makes a fantastic treadmill at all levels.

I made an investment in a Sole treadmill 10 years ago. Still running strong.

To the OP… I don’t remember the specs anymore, but get the best HP motor you can afford; it will help prevent the track slipping under your feet. 3.5HP sounds familiar.

My recommendation is to wait until about April and pick up a hardly used 3 month old treadmill. There will be plenty available for a a substantial discount off new treadmill prices.

Agree with others. Sole and don’t look back. I have the sole 80 and it is very sturdy and has been flawless.

I heard through the grapevine that Harry Reid might have one for sale.

Sole F85 here. A little pricey, though. For OP's request, probably the F63 will do fine.

As I recall ole harry supposedly had an accident on one in which appeared like he got the crap kicked out of hisself. Of course if it was a the treadmill that did it. As the new thread running has made it clear he did not need it where he is now.

Find a higher model Sole used. Lots of Covid purchases to be had now.

Pick up a pre-owned Precor off Facebook marketplace or similar. I've heard Sole is also good. I've had Precor only. First at my last house and sold it when we moved. Just got a new one for Christmas.

Ordered a Sole F63 for pickup at Dick's. Just waiting for the "It's ready" email and I'll go get it.

Holy Frijoles!

Picked it up and the stock guy and I tipped it off the hand cart and onto the tailgate and then picked the other end up and slid it in. Easy-peasy.

Got it home, decided to stash it in the garage until my Grandson can get down to help me lug it up to the "gym". Happened to glance at the data on the box and the boxed unit weighs 249 pounds!

If I were being generous, I'd say 10 pounds of that is packaging. No way no how that's going up the stairs as a unit. We'll unbox it in the garage and lug it up a piece at a time.

can you put a rope on it and drag it up. It is a lot easier to pull something than lift and carry?

Oh yeah. I had to move my wife's in during a freezing cold snow storm. Was not fun getting that heavy thing inside when the box got snowed on.
