Somehow my email address was targeted how do I make it stop! Over 1000 emails in 30 minutes. They won't stop coming! Owner, TonyBen, LLC, Type-07 FFL www.tonybenm14.com (Site under construction). e-mail: tonyben@tonybenm14.com

A start would be to remove your email from your signature and other places you publish it. Web crawlers live for that stuff. Who is your email provider? You could contact them and see if they can be of help. They may just tell you that you need to mark each one as spam but I'm guessing each "sender email address" is autogenerated and that won't get you too far. Or, change your email address. Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

Fighting the good fight |
It won't stop your current deluge, but it will help prevent it from getting worse. Posting your email in the open on a public forum, or on any other public website, is a surefire recipe for loads of spam.

Well, I called GoDaddy and they helped me out. I guess someone hacked my email and they were sending out spam email from my account but it was set up to delete from sent mail, so I never saw outgoing emails. From his end, he said he saw a bunch of outgoing emails to myself and we logged off all devices. Changed my password and all is good. Tony. I swear I had something for this |
You can sign up to a service like Aura or DeleteMe that will make sure you information isn’t sold to data brokers and take care of unsubscribing you from spam emails.

Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best |
Back when I worked in IT at the college, we got a new Marketing director who commissioned a new website and included a personal Bio page for every single staff and faculty member at the institution, with names, photos and contact info. We told him this was a horrible idea, but we were just peons who didn't understand his "strategic vision for the institution", and he was a personal hire of the President and kind of the golden child, so he got whatever he wanted. His "strategic vision" cost us an upgraded mail server and a very expensive anti-spam appliance. It also didn't bring in any more students, and he was looking for a new job within a year.
