Traveling to LA or maybe San Diego, are they checking vaccine/covid test status?
So we are flying into Commiefornia next month to visit family. We may have the option to fly into LA instead of San Diego but not sure which works better yet.
Anyhow, not all of us are vaccinated and we won't be. I'm reading all this stuff about getting tests before and after, etc. What I'm trying to find out is if this is being checked in any way or is it just the "rules" that aren't really enforced?
Anyone been to these areas lately?

I'm not aware of any airport screening for Covid. Just have to wear a mask from the moment you enter the airport until you leave the other airport.

I've not been ask to wear a mask anyplace I've gone in San Diego, not Costco, Sams Club or any restaurants we've been too. Last time I was in LA mask were required everywhere

Were you asking if you need a test or vaccine to fly to other parts of the United States?
The fact that some people could even believe that this is the case speaks to the state of America right now in 2022.

I don’t disagree. But the travel guidelines for Los Angeles flights have rules that don’t clearly state if there is enforcement. Better to know before we go

Possibly because it is the case? Blue areas are insane with commies trying to commie. Much of what they tried to do years ago behind closed doors are now public campaign promises. Now a days, I think it’s perfectly acceptable to ask these things before traveling to the midst of commies. A few years ago, this level of statism couldn’t be imagined. Today, it is real. The FBI director just admitted that his political opponents are more of a threat to America than the guys that have killed thousands of Americans over the last 30 years. Would you have believed that a decade ago?

We're still America. I can freely travel anywhere in this country state to state, even Hawaii. I'm dismayed Americans are not absolutely adamant and clear on this fact.

Have you tried flying to HI without a vax card or negative test just before entering? Ain't gonna work.

Some cities require proof of vax for dining in. Los Angeles for example. Not sure about SD. Hapless folks working there probly don’t give a rip but their boss is scared shitless a county health inspector will randomly show up for a spot check

But you will be subject to a 5 day quarantine.
“For non-vaccinated travelers, the Hawaii Pre-Travel testing rules and requirements remain in place; otherwise, all travelers who arrive without the proper test (from a trusted partner) or valid vaccine exemption will be subject to Hawaii's mandatory 5-day quarantine (number of required days changed on January 3, 2022).” https://www.hawaii-guide.com/h...-travel-restrictions

Probably not.
The creator of this video is an American Airlines flight attendant trying to fly DFW to Hawaii on her days off with her family.
You only need to watch the 1st 2 minutes or so. Prior to boarding, they were required to get a Covid test at the airport. $200 for each test, 1 hour waiting, and then not allowed to go through TSA. Go home. (BTW how many tests are run each day @ $200 person? Much deniro to somebody!!!

If you had covid you may still pop positive for it up to 12 weeks after and most policies will not allow for that fact. They are hardlining the issue despite medical science.
Naturally acquired immunity is not officially recognized in the screening yet. It's been two years and it's still a major omission.
One parallel in travel is to check and see if your CCW license is recognized. CA doesn't - and it's mask and test policies are equally out of balance with other states in the nation. My CCW is reciprocal in many of the lower 48 and my experience with TX and OK is the test and mask policies are comparatively lax, too.
Airports are mask required in our state past the check in, at least, and most medical clinics are, too. Optometrists and dentists not so much locally. Id view travel to CA in the same light as traveling there with an AR or nonlisted CCW. Best to thorougly check the Covid policies listed on line with those city hall web pages to see how things could go.

You can fly to Hawaii any time you want. However, if you're unvaccinated you either take a test for Covid that comes up negative or you quarantine for a week or so.
In addition, on Oahu and Maui you can't go in any public building without being vaccinated.

Recently flew a handful of business trips from CA to CO and back...no vax card check but, gotta wear the diaper thru the airports and throughout the flight. Just keep the complimentary drink in your hand and drink it SLowLY.
On the ground, for the most part if you're outside, 'mask enforcement' is non-existent. CA requires if you're inside a business/establishemt, you have to wear the diaper. Go into the urban-centers or wealthy deep blue enclave areas and you'll see all levels of adherence, paranoia and contradiction; the further you distance from these areas, the less compliance you'll see. Certain restaurants (there's very few), attempting to out-virtue everyone else by having a 'higher-level of concern', require customers to show your fax card. I refuse to give them any business.

If most of your time is in the far-end of North county San Diego, John Wayne (SNA) in Orange Country can be a better option rather than fighting traffic on I-5 to go in/out of San Diego (SAN). I try to avoid LAX when possible, just the sheer volume of passenger traffic can complicate things, then there's the traffic on 405.
