Right now Costco has Starbucks medium roast Winter Blend in 2.5 pound bags of whole beans for 14 bucks. It is excellent coffee and that is a great price.

I buy my beans from Costco (usually online) two 3lb bags for under $40.00. They last just fine sitting on top of a cupboard until I am ready to use them.

I take one bag and fill the grinder and three tuperwear like containers and then tape the bag closed with any remaining beans. When it is time to fill the grinder again I fill from the bag and one of the tupperwear containers.

When all three containers have emptied I refill all with the second bag, and when I have emptied the first of the containers I place my order again.

I keep 6 months supply on hand, and it renews/updates currently on a 6lb order every 2 months along with a monthly 1 lb (specialty) through BRCC.

I still have green beans left from MrGreenBean.com when I was roasting my own. With them being Portland based, I suspended my orders and am still looking for a quality green bean source that ships affordably.

1,2 or 5 lb bags & fresh roasted. Mexican Altura Coatepec is my favorite.

I do usually like Kona, so I've got some more learning to do about that.

In the meantime, there's a BRCC Complete Mission Fuel Kit in my coffee cabinet.

Good choice. I've tried almost all of their different roasts, and really like several of them, namely their AK, Beyond Black, Freedom Fuel, and especially Blackbeard's Delight (which is my favorite of their roasts).

Even the ones that I didn't like as much were still decent coffee, just not really my preferred style.

Whole beans are only good for a week after roasting, not a month. By buying in large quantities you are guaranteed to be drinking stale coffee.

Oh please. It may not be as fresh, but it most certainly won't be "stale." I highly doubt the average coffee drinker would even know the difference much in taste.

Just be sure to store your coffee in a proper airtight container.

Well, I will have to somewhat agree with hounddawg here. You can taste the fall-off in taste that happens in about a month in storage.

Check this local roastery: https://www.vertex-coffee.com/
They are located in the outskirts of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I most certainly do know what good coffee is. Perhaps I misunderstood you. If beans are packaged in an airtight bag or container soon after roasting, they should certainly keep longer than a week. But once it's opened, that's a different story.

If buying in bulk, preferably one would buy many small bags as opposed to one large bag. Unless you're a coffee fiend like myself who goes through a couple of pounds a week.
