Like I said, people can’t police themselves to a reasonable level. Your analogy is for shit. Somebody calling you ugly is purely subjective and completely out of your hands. You are what you are. You buying the house next door and turning it into a junk pile isn’t actually completely subjective and it’s completely within your control. What if he hoarded flammable materials? Stacked them up right up to your property line? Still no issues? Vermin, smell, none of those get past your libertarianism? Ok. I hope you never move anywhere near me. As for your car does the HOA have a rule against covering your car? Oh they do. Well then don’t cover it or put it in the garage. Rules like that are meant to keep people from keeping junkers in their yard. Last house in Maryland my neighbor kept 2 rusty, couldn’t move, no tagged MGB’s rotting under “car covers”. He was going to fix them up he said. 15 years they never moved and just rotted. An eyesore to everyone. When the cover would rot out he would buy a new one. If you can’t recognize normal social behavior then you shouldn’t live in a neighborhood. Go buy out in the woods where your inability to distinguish normal social cueing doesn’t impinge on anyone else. It’s people who behave like you that HOA’s were created. Like I said, you can’t police yourself to a reasonable level. You actually believe parking cars on blocks in your front yard is perfectly acceptable. And the rest of us are “Karen’s” now? Oh brother, nice way to shrug off any responsibility. Yikes, stay in Texas.

Yeah, as noted here and elsewhere above, being able to be seen by Google Earth is a very low bar. The "Is it bigger than a breadbox?" Twenty-Questions question could easily be replaced by "Could you see it on Google Earth?"

pedropcola, Yes you are correct the extreme hoarders are a big reason why HOA’s were created but people ultimately decided to trade some liberty (which can at times make headlines) for the security of not having to see their neighbors shit in their yard which also makes headlines occasionally. When taken to their extremes both the HOA’s and hoarders can be equally bad. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

I’m not arguing that stickman. I absolutely hate HOA’s. I much prefer that people could just live in reasonable tolerance of each others “liberties”. In my experience on this planet, most people, even the good ones, have a very defined sense of self interest. In my mind, no one sane would justify this bike guys behavior as reasonable. Yet, someone did. On this very thread. Hence HOA’s. Which I still hate. That’s a whole thread though. I’ve lived in good ones, you don’t even know they are there, and bad ones, oh you know they are there. Hate isn’t a strong enough term for how I despise HOA’s. Then you get bike guy, or my nephew who treats his front yard like like a constant garage sale, and maybe it’s me that should move out to the woods. Lol

They’d be happier (hoarders) out in the woods. Why? More room to hoard their shit. Sometimes I think I’d be happier out in the woods, especially when I talk to my neighbor about his sweet drone and my modded electric bike. My quiet and friendly neighbor admitted to me recently that his neighbors have called the cops 3 times on him for flying his drone and made ridiculous accusations against him. He also warned me they might report me for making my electric bicycle go so fast. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Everything on this planet besides perhaps gravity, is subjective. My old neighborhood was very hilly. Lots of electric bikes. All young kids riding them. Biggest issue was they were a danger to themselves and everyone on the road. It’s basically a motorcycle without motorcycle smarts or rules. Kids have rode bikes poorly, wrong side of road, no looking, etc since the invention of circles. Now though they can do all those things as fast as a car. It’s a bad combo for kids. Anyway, reasonable people need to act reasonable. That’s the rub though, my reasonable isn’t everybody’s. What’s scary is that this example seems ok to some people on this thread. Then we wonder why we can’t have nice things. Lol

I agree with pedropcola.... the guy is an idiot and has no respect for his neighbors.... which it seems there used to be a philosophy about that..... If as in some of the article he's supposed to be sending them to Africa..... either sh't or get off the pot dud! My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"
