Alea iacta est |
Go here one for a meal: http://ebbitt.com/ IIRC, it's the oldest bar in Washington, DC. Do yourself a favor, and use the restroom while you're there. The marble stairs going to the basement really show their age (they're perfectly safe, just VERY well-worn), and really help you get a feel for just how old the place is, and how many pairs of feet must've climbed up and down them over the years. If it's still on the menu, the walrus burger was amazing. Grilled onions, balsamic vinegar.. Mmmm! And it's right near the white house, about a block up from the treasury. Don't know if you've made hotel reservations yet, or what your budget is, but Hotel Washington (or Hotel W? It's changed names, can't remember which is the current name) is a really nice place, in an EXCELLENT location (15th & F), if a bit on the spendy side.

This museum is in Virginia Beach which is a little bit of a drive from DC, but if your son is into WWII aircraft, this is the place to go. My son and I loved it. Almost, if not all, of the aircraft they have on display are flight ready. http://www.militaryaviationmuseum.org
