You have the building area


You have the repair and spare parts area


You have your LEGO cities



You have your train that runs the floor under the LEGO Cities. Though eventually it will most likely be on a track above the door and around the perimeter of the room


You have your display shelves


And last but not least sometimes you just have to splurge!! The Disney Castle is for my wife not the boys



Just starting to get things situated so it is still a pretty big mess but we are organizing a bit and likely soon will hang all the aircraft from the ceiling with fishing line.

Normally, this would be well beyond the Christmas budget. But, I got a great deal. The oldest son was blown away. He has a special table to build on my father custom built for him before he passed.

While they’re not legos, and we have tubs and tubs of those, this year I bought each of my kids a Cobi jet. (F-18SH, F-16, F-15, and my daughter got the Top Gun F-14 Tomcat) We built them and then all watched Top Gun Maverick.

It was a great afternoon/evening together.

Jeremy, pretty cool setup for the kids. Parenting done right!

That Swiss F/A 18 is slick too!

In my youth it was Lincoln Logs, Tinkertoys, and a knockoff of the Erector set (with motor).

LOL! we had all of those. And the gas powered cars that would just drive around in circles.

I loved LEGOs when I was a kid! I would build the set, and then I would build all kinds of stuff that I made up.

I loved Legos as a kid. Can't believe how incredibly expensive they are these days. Were they always that expensive?

We got my oldest the Missouri/Iowa Cobi a couple years ago. It’s 99% compatible with Lego and HUGE. Like 3’ long huge.

Sorry, it was a one of deal.

Both of our sets of grandkids - 5 total absolutely love these darn things. They have thousands of dollars worth. We spent about $350 for Lego Christmas presents including a Corvette for our adult son. He said he needed a new car.

We are lucky as my parents and the in-laws are very much in on it too. They embrace the obsession for the boys as well.
There is also a really good independent Lego store in Cincy called HHH Brick Depot. Tons of used kits with boxes and books. Lots of retired stuff and new stuff as well.
So we get a lot of stuff there.

My oldest has some medical issues and has to visit Cincinnati Children’s Hospital too frequently which is 2 hours from where we live and most of his medical visits their aren’t enjoyable but he is a trooper so we visit HHH for him to get something.

I posted about his 1st visit there awhile ago and me feeling like crap afterward because he had been at the Hospital for a pretty intense eye visit. I had completely forgotten about his eyes being super dilated and he could not even really see and he seemed as if he was not interested in the shop at all. He grabbed something but did not really seem to care.
We got back in the car to leave and he asked if we could come back when he could actually see.

We have been there quite a bit over the last year since finding the store.
We are headed back to Cincy for our 5th visit to the Hospital this month. Fortunately he has some extra spending cash from Christmas so he should enjoy.

Fun! My youngest is going to help me build the Lego Death Star. I had it for a few years and it was partially built, but by golly we're going to finish it over Christmas break!

My boys (8 and 5) are into them, as was I. They have a popcorn tin full of my Legos and we always get some for Christmas. This year there are Minecraft sets, Avengers sets, and TIE fighter and X-Wing.

As I always did, it seems my kids love to create with them more than build kits. Which means they build the kits, play with them for a few days, and then take them apart never to be assembled again, only to be used in other build, which I think is fine.

Oh, Goodness No!!! That is complete blasphemy around here!! Kits are way too expensive for that.
Hence the reason for the repair center.
Some kits get played with but if something breaks it is repaired pretty quickly.
Some kits never get played with and are just for display.

For the free play/creative aspect of things I bought 5lbs of random Legos off EBay for that and then all the extras that come with each kit also get tossed in there.

We keep all the boxes and books. I also download the pdf book for everything we buy and have those saved.
