I have several HK handguns. I like the grip ergos, the general lack of sharp edges and corners, and all of them have ambidextrous controls. The triggers tend toward suck but the LEM trigger solves some of that issue for me.
When it comes to just wanting something that’s nice to shoot it’s hard to beat a metal SIG or 1911.

I just don't care. Neither maker has really "tripped my trigger." I did put a few rounds through someone else's P99AS, but it didn't make me want to run out and buy one. The CC9 that has recently come out seems like a nice gun, but not >$100 more nice than the P365. Similarly, the .22 copy of the HK416 (actually made by Umarex but has the HK name on it) looks interesting, but does nothing my M&P15-22 won't.

Two reasons, first is the paddle style magazine release and second is that none of their offerings feel right in my hand.

You’re missing out imo! I’ve got a couple of Hk handguns and just picked up the Walther PDP Pro below. It’s an absolute tack driver and feels like it was molded for my hand… and the trigger?! Forget about it! Once it goes through a bit more breaking in I think it’s going to be my new nightstand piece.

I carried a .45 USP as my first duty gun and I absolutely loved it. I owned a USP .40 at the same time.

I didn’t buy the .45 and ended up selling the .40 during the period of a divorce due to finances. But I enjoyed them and had 100% confidence in them.

But then I bought a Glock 19 lol

Not much that and my Sig P365 don’t cover these days. And with two teenagers, I have absolutely no problem finding things other than guns to spend money on.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Try a CC9 next time you see one at the counter. Wink

HK guns don’t appeal to everyone. I like them. They’re expensive. But I think they’re worth the money. I have Walthers too. P99s, P22, P88, PP and when I get around to it, a P5.

Where would you rank the P88 1)among all your Walthers and, 2) among all your handguns?

The P88 among my Walthers ranks at the top for design and quality. It suffers from the same thing most guns designed before or near the Glock revolution though. It’s relatively complicated and heavy. The younger among us likely didn’t experience the Glock revolution as it happened so the difference it created in simplicity, reliability and convenience of carry may not be as remarkable. The P88 is an admirable design and cycles all but one box of ammo I fed it. Probably something out of spec with the ammo.

Compared to the rest of my guns, it’s one I’m fond of for history and collection but I think my SIGs and HKs are better in my hand. It reminds me of my Browning Hi Power that way. My 1911s though older in design and even more complex, are better guns I think. Still worth having one though

Early in my gun-buying life, I picked up a USP Tactical. Basically a 'smaller' version of the MK23 pistol, I like the USP series of pistols as they're pure pragmatic, not the best triggers but very easy to use & maintain; works as a good teaching platform. Today, that USP Tactical lives as a house-gun, full-size big, large controls easy to use, I just need to get a holster for it.

Which reminds me that I still want to try a range PDP rental with the larger grip frame. The F model is too smallish for me. Was so tempted several years ago by the VP9, but went with a Glock 19 Gen4.

Had a USPc 9mm stainless when CDNN was selling them for $499 or $599 many years ago. And yes, the influence from that was from the show 24. Big Grin

Had P2K in 9mm and .357 SIG.

The ergonomics on the P2K pistols were incredible. The USPc had the benefit of carrying locked and cocked.

Triggers on the USPc and P2K were average at best. Magazines were expensive, I think I still have some mags somewhere in a box.

Good lord, that's one helluva setup, nightstand gun perfection. If you shoot as good as it looks, the perp will wish he chose an easier target. Impressive setup.

The USP in the 90-00's was like Berreta's 92F in the 80's, Jack Bauer's image was always with a USP

Thank you for that, honestly it nearly shoots itself. It’s crazy accurate, first trip out with it I chewed a single ragged hole at 10 yards.

Yea it's a beauty, especially considering how well it shoots for you in your own hand.

Nothing like a competition level pistol for premium home defense. Hey, I think we need a new thread for that category, you'd have to be at the top of that list.
