DeSantis won't be in the governor's mansion forever.

And yet he could be the next State Senator for a lot longer than he could be POTUS, and that would mean he's working for FL.

Desantis won't be able to fix the constitutional social erosion in DC, jmo DC is lost because we send the same POS people to do the same shit every year. The problem isn't DC, it's who states send to DC.

Fix the problem in your state(s) and we can fix DC, until the CHoomer, Pukelosi, AOC, Moochconnels et al are gone and replaced with good basic constitutional backing people, the problems will persist.

The issue isn't ever the POTUS, its congress and that has to be fixed at the state level.

Nice. But, short sighted.

Matt Bevin was DeSantis before DeSantis was cool.

Then the special interests dumped enough money to get him defeated.

And he was replaced with a lib. And the state goes backwards.

It’s real easy to bark at others about cleaning up their own mess while times are good. But, you are one election away from Suckville.

Thanks for the link. It doesn’t really say they are negative drains though, it says they can be, not that they definitively are. Having some time on my hands and marginal interest in the subject I read that article, then one that it referenced and then a few articles that one referred to. None of them have much in the way of hard numbers and most of them are mainly focused on the impact of the sports team alone and not the overall stadium, which as I said above is used for a lot of other things. I found this quote by Roger Noll, one of the economists that wrote the study most of these articles are based off of:

quote:

“A well-managed arena can be occupied 250-300 nights a year.” Noll said. “And indeed, I don’t think there are very many cities out there who regret having built an arena.”

Being bored enough I just purchased the book he wrote on the matter. It seems like in it he does consider more than just the sports team and looks into the overall impact of the building including the extra events.

All of that is getting away from the OP though. In this case the money was for a training facility. That should absolutely not be paid for by the government.

JMO, Bevin didn't have the long term moxie of an Abbot or Desantis, he's a great guy, perhaps got screwed, but what do you expect in KY, where being a R and governor is about as rare as finding a conservative in Los Angeles... There was Louis Nunn in the 70's then 30+ years to Fletchers term.

KY doesn't do local R well, never has, remember I grew up there, didn't leave until the mid 80's, KY is my second home, you never leave it and it never leaves you. Its one of those blue dog conservative states, that loves local D politicians for some reason.

Bevin's misfortune is exactly why I'd like to see Desantis forgo the White House Ego trip and go into the Senate, his long term prospects at keeping that office for a couple of decades if he wishes will give him lots of power in DC, he is the future of the R party in the Senate. The white house is a quick pony show, at the whims of the press, social media and vindictive D party with many vindictive R party members in congress.

Much prefer he fight the good fight for the party from the senate, its a long term proposition, along with helping keep FL growing and going in the correct direction.

White House, and again JMO, who needs it, the power isn't there, it's a short term job.

We need 50 or more new conservative faces in the Senate, plenty more in the House, that's where you control what gets done.

Question is, does he displace Scott, or, Little Marco. Probably Lil Marco, since south FL is more a Habla population...

DeSantis is doing a good job in Florida and hopefully will make it to the presidency one day.

The Titans seem to want 2.2 Billion for a new covered stadium... because the "OLD" one needs 1.6 billion in repairs to make it structurally sound.

1.6 billion

Now... The "OLD" one is ONLY 23 years old people! So... is whoever designed and built this apparently piece of shit stadium being sued for incompetence??? Roll Eyes

AND... one Nashville politician was already heard contemplating uses for the old one after the new one is built! So... we are going to fix the not worth fixing "old" one AND build a new one. Great! Roll Eyes

Parking is always a problem... SO, to fix that they are actually considering building the new one in the parking lot of the old one. And they say they can just bus the attendees in from satellite parking lots... that I guess we will have to purchase land for, and develop, and then we will need busses...

As far as I know nothing had been settled on...

Endeavor to persevere.

Where else are they going to herd the poor people to when a hurricane swamps the city?
