I couldn't imagine being shot down once let alone four times. Must have been terrifying

Hitler had already developed a plan for the invasion of England . Operation Sea Lion . They needed to neutralize the RAF and the British Navy first . Didn't happen .

I was at the Goodwood Revival vintage car races in September of 2000 and they had an anniversary celebration for the Battle of Britain. It included an airshow with Spitfires and Mustangs. Paddy would been 80. Maybe he was there. Thanks for your service.

A Shelby Daytona won the feature race driven by Danny Sullivan. He passed a green Ferrari driven by John Surtees.

The gratitude of every home in our Island, in our Empire, and indeed throughout the world, except in the abodes of the guilty, goes out to the British airmen who, undaunted by odds, unwearied in their constant challenge and mortal danger, are turning the tide of world war by their prowess and by their devotion. Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.
