I took a class on Off Duty / Plain Clothes survival about a dozen years ago put on the LASD. One of the deputies teaching said he kept a stainless j-frame in a plastic bag in the shower.

Showers can be a bit hard on the springs. Not sure how to open a pouch with wet hands.

As long as you don’t put bleach tablets in the toilet tank, the lid of the tank may be a better environment.
