My death is on your hands, Black92LX (week 2 on the rower)
Thanks to bad knees and the Army's love affair with Crossfit, when Black decided to show off that sweet water rower, I took the plunge and got a Concept 2 Model D. Well, I should say I got on the wait list for one. A couple of months and $950 delivered later, I have a week in the saddle.
Man, I hate you Black.

Yeah, that first week, you really don't know how uncoordinated you are......not to mention how out of shape.
Short duration Sprints with light rowing or another exercise (I do a 30 seconds on, 1 minute to 1 minute 30 off with usually a set of kettelbell swings and then back on rower for light rowing the rest of the "light" workout time) is a good idea. Concept 2 has daily challenges and there are some good free apps for use with the Concept 2:
I have the same rower. My first ride was 5 minutes!
That was a little over a year ago...I just passed 2 million meters.
I ride 45 mins about 5 time a week and even did a half marathon.
Stick with it!

Right now I'm doing 5 x 5 minutes, with a 2.5 minute rest in between. About a 200m per minute pace. I hope to gradually reduce the break every 2 weeks or so by 30 seconds until I'm doing 25 minutes straight.

My Brittany just came running into the room wondering why I am laughing so loudly. :

Every once in a while, test your 500m, 1000m, 2000m, and 5k. Absolutely brutal workouts if you give everything you’ve got.
My goal for a 500 is sub 1:30. I got 1:32 once and just fell off the machine and just flopped around like a fish for a while.
I’ve done a few half marathons and one full. Every once in a while my gym has a month long row challenge to see who can get the most meters or calories. I got really good at staying in the seat for long periods of time.

Screw that. I'm 53. Army says I have to do 5k in 25 mins. That's all they're getting.

You got a good price. Paid around half a Benjamin more for mine delivered last January. Rowing every day since last Dec 3rd. Even my wife gets on around 6 days a week (Sunday off). That, and diet, has brought her off metformin and her A1C was 5.9 the other day - well below type II diabetes.

I wanted a rower, but we ended up with a Peloton. May add a rower eventually. Wife's office has a Concept 2, so I may try it there.

I bought a rower this past summer. It is my favorite for indoor cardio equipment.

The Concept "ergdata" app is a great add-on for your rower. It logs all your workouts and provides useful stats. Adding a HR monitor helps keep you in the zone. Here's an example..
My gym just added a water rower to the two Concept 2 lineup; I have to say, when the time comes to buy one, I'll be spending a little extra on the water rower. I really like how the resistance actually increases the harder you pull as opposed to the steady tension on the Concepts.

The key question is how do you fee AFTER your workout. Keep at it and the day will come when you actually look forward to working out. That is when you will be thanking 92LX

The key question for me is how do y'all deal with the boredom and monotony?

For me it's the projector and 110" screen in front of me.

Same. I usually have the TV on something like American Pickers.

I typically watch videos on my iPad. Usually something on YouTube about guns or mountain biking. Good mountain bike videos especially keep me motivated, so that I can be in shape when I get back on the trails!

Brought mine home today. Have it set in my extra bedroom. Didn't think about entertainment while rowing. Jumped on it for a few minutes. Seems like a pretty good exercise.
