Roberts joined with Ginsburg Breyer, Kagan and Sotomayor in the 5-4 decision holding that a warrant is required to access an individual's cell phone location records. Kennedy, Alito, Thomas and Gorsuch dissented.

Based on past SCOTUS precedent, I would have to say this is an unexpected decision, but as a matter of policy, I'm not so sure this isn't the correct one.
