I've never used it in my life, if that's what you're asking.
Why not: it's the way I was brought up, and, I've held jobs for years which have required drug testing. It also makes getting DOD security clearances much easier

That said, I don't have any problem with legalization and taxation. I do wonder about health effects for smokers. Inhaling smoke from any burning substance is worse for you than not inhaling smoke...
It can be smoked, vaped, and ingested.

jhe888I've had a bet with a friend for about five years now that weed will be legal in Texas before casino gambling. I still think my bet is safe.
Weed will be generally legal in the U.S. within ten to twenty years.
Nothing wrong with the college program.

Perhaps no better/worse than alcohol and lack of self control.
One of my golf buddies ran a very large refining and chemical processing business. Big - international. Thousands of employees. He said he would take a pot smoker over a drinker any day of the week. Mind you, he didn't want anyone at work who was intoxicated, but the weed smokers missed less work and weren't hung over and worthless the next day.

Not many, and casino gambling is still illegal everywhere in Texas.

parabellumInevitable in these threads is someone like you, radioman, who has never tried marijuana but they're totally against it. Usually, it's because some family member of theirs (who would manage to fuck up even if marijuana never existed) "ruined their life" with weed,
supposedly. You know, in my estimation, you have to be a really poor excuse for a human being for marijuana to ruin your life, and blaming it on marijuana is just an excuse. If it's not weed, it would be some other drug, or gambling, or whatever. Marijuana doesn't make you a shitty person, but shitty people might use marijuana and then blame their own failings on some one or some thing- anything but themselves.
Well, thank goodness at least that we're managing to avoid those attempts at putting everyone here on a guilt trip.
Oh, but it's the law. You've never a broken a law in your entire life? This is what you're telling us? If so, I do not believe it. I do not.
You want to act as if marijuana is terrible, despite you really not knowing much about it. OK, fine. You want to tell us that people should follow an
antiquated law that was enacted because of racial preconceptions a century ago. OK, sure.
Bad laws get enacted. Laws get changed. Laws get revoked.

Indian casinos aren't in Texas. They are on Indian lands. They don't count as Texas can't stop them.

Few people actually realize just how big legal pot is. If states like Colorado are taking in hundreds of millions in taxes, what do you think the growers and processors are making? I know an HVAC supplier who is doing a brisk business with the small grow operations currently allowed in Michigan. Starting in December, large commercial medical marijuana growers can begin operation. There is a LOT of money to be made. And like any ag operation, they are going to need people who know what the hell they are doing to manage them.
There's a medicinal place next door to work and a legal shop across the street. In two years time, I've watched everyone involved in that business go from driving shit cars and wearing street clothes to driving luxury vehicles and dressing like modern nobility. There certainly is a ton of money to be made in the industry, and the way things are going, if you want a piece of the coming empire, the time to get in on the ground floor is here. A degree in the growing of the plant can help guarantee someone an important place in the industry. Michigan University is actually being pretty shrewd about being the first to offer a program.

Slippery PeteI see lots of people with existing issues abusing reefer and often it gets associated with these types of people's pathology. The flip side is "normal" folks like to partake too and often with 0 consequence, certainly less than booze. Hell it might even help folks color between the lines better.
It's not my thing, but to have it against the law seems ridiculous, ESPECIALLY considering the amount of it and people using it all over the place. Puffin the Jeeba is better for you than Oreos.

flashguyI have only 2 problems with marijuana: the smoke really stinks (worse even than tobacco) and there is as yet no easy way for a cop to determine a driver is too incapacitated with it to legally drive. I won't stand downwind of a person smoking ANYTHING or be in a confined space with one, and I certainly don't want stoners driving the streets. Folks who don't contribute to those 2 problems I have no issue with.

Once they tell me I don't have to pay for national healthcare, I'll sing a different tune.
People want to be allowed to do what they want and not have others tell them what to do...but then so many in our country turn to folks like us and say, "I need you pay for my shit tho." It just irks me.
We can't have it both ways. Asking .gov to pay for our healthcare invites them into our private lives imo.
Smoking weed is not linked to cancer the way cigarettes are. In fact, people suffering from cancer are part of the reason this tide is changing.

46and2Smoking *anything* most certainly isn't *good* for you.

But I agree, Cannabis itself does seem to legitimately help a great many people, even if - at worst - it's simply *less bad* than Opiates and various other popular pharmaceuticals, and there are already CBD Patches, Lotions, Edibles, and various methods beyond smoking.

Are you sure you want to go down this road? Because in addition to hookers and pot you could also ban fast food, corn syrup, Coke, Pepsi, cigars, white flour, desserts, anything fried. What else? Did I miss anything?

I always considered beer and bourbon part of my required food groups...with a cigar, of course
