Anyone used the Waterlily portable turbine?
Interesting product someone showed me online. I searched and haven't seen it mentioned on Sigforum. Has anyone used this?

Dang, I hadn't even looked at the price yet...I'm curious if it works in the real world.

It's actually a clever concept but for backpacking/hiking you're better off just carrying a battery pack...it'd be cheaper & weigh less.

If you're going to be in an area that has a fast-moving stream for a few days but doesn't get very good sun exposure, it'd be ideal.

for $24 you can add the optional hand crank when you are running out of power, at night, no wind, no water, in the desert....

I can make the same thing with a fan, some magnets, and a rectifier. The hardest part would be voltage regulation as the voltage would change depending on wind/water speed. AVR wouldn't work because the use of permanent magnets VS electromagnets.

As far as the product itself, pointless. I'll just pick up a half dozen 20,000 mAh battery packs and weigh less or 3 or 4 batteries and solar charger.
