Any opinions on a nice general purpose model for my daughter?

sjtillI would suggest looking at a Littman model like this:
Link: Littman Classic III stethoscopeYou can choose a color, and they will personalize it with a name on the plastic tubing.

sigarms229EMT for 30 years here. I prefer the Littman Classic II with the single bell head. They can laser engrave the head too! I recently loaned it to my RN wife who misplaced her Littman (unsure of model). She came home and said she wants one like mine....

mike28wLittman is a good choice. My only advice to to make sure it's got her name engraved as well as a obvious name tag on it......hospitals, especially training institutions are notorious for having nice stethoscopes grow legs and disappear !

Agree on keeping a name tag on it.

alreadydeadAt many of the hospitals were I have staffed they have a gift shop. Sometimes they are run by "volunteers" (retired people that make a big difference).
They can help you out a lot.

downtownvEveryone gets a Littman, when it gets lost or stolen they buy another brand. There are lots of good-quality scopes out there. Get a littman because you would be like the college kid that shows up with a PC while everyone else has a Mac. Other Brands of note Prestige,ADC, Mabis and Lumiscope.

FWIW, Mrs.BurtonRW, RN, has always preferred the Littman Cardiology IV vs. the Littman III. Better acoustic range, she says. Has been using one since she started her career in critical care.

The 27" model? I can only use the 29". The 27" is for amateurs.

(I have no idea.)

sjtillMuzzle velocity is higher with the 29 inch, but it's harder to use in close quarters.
