AeteoclesAnother fun discussion: What new skill would you like to have?
Imagine someone came along and said that they'd pay for the basic/first level classes of whatever skill you'd like to learn (including arranging for you to take the required time away from work, if applicable).
What would you like to learn? Scuba? Skydiving? Tax Prep? Photography? Wilderness First Aid?
I think I'd really like to learn how to weld, or to run basic machine shop equipment (lathe/router). Totally not applicable to anything I need or would use on the regular, but fun to know nonetheless.

RogueJSKEither more in-depth first aid certification, or some training in intermediate handyman-style home repair/improvement work.
I have basic first responder first aid training, but I'd like more. I've always thought that if I wasn't a LEO, I'd enjoy being a paramedic, nurse, or doctor.
And I've picked up a bit of plumbing over the years from Youtube and trial-and-error, and can do basic home repairs like replacing a loose shingle or a rotten deck board, recaulking windows, or swapping out a light switch. But I'd like to be more comfortable tackling more in-depth home improvement stuff like fixing/replacing tile, flooring, drywall, light fixtures/ceiling fans, brickwork, doors/molding, moderate rewiring, deckbuilding, etc.

stickman428Metal fabrication and welding. I might try to gain some skills in that area once my life settles down a little.

Steve CollinsI would want to become proficient at mold making to produce fiberglass parts. Knowing all of the materials used, where to get them, and how to use them.

Wood Working, but focusing strictly on making letters and words out of wood. It's a new field.

NuclearSinging. I can't carry a tune in a bucket. I can tell when something is off key, but I can't sing in tune myself.

Ah. I have a big wooden letter on my mantle. Didn't know there was a name/subgenre for that.
In my junior high shop class, that was one of the projects for each student every semester: cutting out your last name in wood on the scroll saw.

sig226fanI am in the welding camp myself. I think it would be a great skill to have in your pocket if ever needed. Plus could be a fun way to exercise your mind when you retire or have off time. Let your creative side out and run free.

LS1 GTOMultiple language understanding (reading, writing, speaking), ie, a gift of tongues.
But that may not be considered a "skill" in this threads context so...
Mastery of all forms of welding. Knife making might be a close second.
