Looking for an alternative to Amazon, something comparable Login/Join

I have made many purchases on Amazon and I really enjoy the fast delivery/price. But thinking back to my purchasing days I dislike only having one supplier. I realize that most items can be purchased from other internet sites but the convenience and “prime” membership make it so easy to just shop on Amazon.

Any suggestions from the SF group on alternatives to Amazon for one stop internet shopping?

Depends on what you are looking for. I use newegg.com for computer parts and a few other things.

Walmart.com

Amazon, even with its problems, is a tough act to follow.

jet.com has a similar business model, and good pricing on many things.

Alibaba.com I suppose is just as big if not bigger than Amazon and has a lot of products (cheap products).

It being a Chinese owned and operated company though, I've never actually purchased anything through them. But it is another option.

Some sites can have better deals, especially if you don't need the item in two days. Vitacost, Lucky Vitamin, Abe's books, Amish Popcorn are examples. At times, ordering online from Best Buy or Home Depot can work well.

For car parts, many times rockauto.com has lower prices even with their shipping charge added.

Just signed up to walmart.com a couple days ago.

Purchased my Android streaming device (Xiaomi MiBox) from a local store. Purchased my Silicon Dust HDHomeRun from a local Best Buy. Both had prices as good as, or better than, Amazon's, and I had the items instantly.

It is, but I'm of the same mind as Vanwall.

The battle between Amazon and Google, leaving Android TV devices with no Amazon Prime Video, is what finally gave me the push I needed to do this. (And, yes: Despite my antipathy towards everything Google, I lay the blame for this one on Amazon.) Right now I expect there's a good chance we'll be dropping Amazon Prime when it comes up for renewal in a year.

I'll have to look into jet.com. I'm disinclined to use alibaba.com.

Haha, yeah. On second thought, maybe don't use Alibaba.

I haven't tried it, but in browsing walmart.com, they seem to have a lot of items that you don't see in the stores (may be through third party vendors) and advertises free shipping.

I ordered a touch scree stereo unit for my Honda off Walmart.com
The "vendor" showed units in stock.
After a MONTH of being "in transit" I got the USPS involved.
Walmart refunded my money.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure there’s a lot of shady sellers on walmart.com. But I’m still waiting for a dozen teeshirts I ordered in July last year to arrive from a seller on amazon. I have come to suspect the boat from china was lost at sea with all hands.

Walmart.com, with the same rule that I use for Amazon:

Only buy items shipped and sold by either Walmart or Amazon. Avoid “sellers” at all costs.

My take on Alibaba is that it's pretty wholesale oriented. If your a distributor / retailer who wants to hook up with Chinese manufacturers, you can do it through Alibaba.
