My wife takes Tumeric for helping inflammation. The brand she uses has an awful taste (probably from being turmeric... lol)

Anyway she hates the taste. Anyone know of any that might taste better?

My wife's been buying us the Members Mark capsules from Sam's Club. They don't taste like anything.

The active ingredient in tumeric is curcumin. I was taking a very high purity curcumin with bioperine (pepper extract that increases effects of curcumin). However, the capsules would crack in my pocket or even came that way and that yellow stains like crazy.

I switched to Black Seed Oil with BioCurcumin and am much happier. My surgically repaired knee goes months at a time without an ache, no yellow powder, and zero taste. Life Extension is pricey but it's high purity and made in the USA (don't want to ingest mystery Chinese ingredients).

FYI, your body will absorb tumeric better by taking it with black papper and also a fat. The key to abosrbtion is getting it into your intestines and the fat helps with that.

I take it in powder form. Let me tell ya, it does taste like I would imagine old ground up card board would taste. I quickly wash it down with water.

I take it in capsule form and if I don't eat anything with it, it opens up in my stomach and I burp it up for an hour or so...

Tell her to eat with it and it'll be better

I take Puritan's Pride brand capsules. Their prices are reasonable and I don't notice any taste with the turmeric, just a slight taste from the bioperine (black pepper).

My wife and I enjoy Celestial Seasoning's Tumeric Spice tea. She drinks it straight, I like fake sugar.

Maybe worth a try?

Interesting on tumeric pills tasting bad!
Indian doctors I know have told us that in India tumeric is used as a food spice on just about everything to gain the health benefits. One of them recommended the tumeric curcumin pills as anti inflammatory supplement. I use the Spring Valley supplement which has ginger powder also. Seems to have helped, but no bad taste noted.

Is there a good source for seperating out which spices/oils and other natural supplements actually do something real for health, and which are garbage?

Arc.

Not as much as you'd think, Arc. Much of the "science" behind the nutraceutical industry is muddled by junk science, so I'm often very frustrated with finding out what works and what doesn't, even for my dog patients.

On turmeric, I use EarthBound brand Turmeric Curcumin, and find that 2 of the 500mg capsules, taken at bedtime and chased liberally with water, works for me.

I like the evaluations by LabDoor. They've got CoQ10, etc., but their tumeric study isn't available yet. https://labdoor.com/
