I usually try one bite and I am reminded why I don't like them. No sauce is required. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

Plain for me. I'm staying in Elkin, NC on business right now and I've noticed every places serves them with packets of butter in the bowl... Sometimes, you gotta roll the hard six

If they're good, nothing additional is required. If they're less than good, they make an excellent vehicle for almost any sauce or dip. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

I'm definitely pro hush puppy. Plain is fine. My favorites are at Sea N Suds in Gulf Shores AL.

The seafood restaurant we go to all the time brings them to you before you even get your drinks. And there is plenty of butter on the table. _______________________________________________________ And no, junior not being able to hold still for 5 seconds is not a disability.

Good warm hush puppies plain or just a little butter. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain. Jack Kerouac

Given that I grew up in India and now live in Yankee territory, I am ashamed to say that I have never had the opportunity to try eating hush puppies!!!!! If you think you can, YOU WILL!!!!!

I don't trust anyone who doesn't like hushpuppies. The ones I had as a kid, my mom put creamed corn and chopped green onion in them. Indescribably delicious.

Hush Puppies? Yes, of course. Jalapeno or not, both are great. Cocktail Sauce, maybe Hot Sauce, a dab of Ketchup, or with Butter, or just plain.

'round here, some people make them with a touch of fresh jalepeno added. Tasty! There's a local place (Soul Fish) that makes their tartar sauce with jalepeno instead of pickles. It may sound odd, but it doesn't really make them so much hot as flavorful. Add the two together, and it's heaven! ________________________________________________ "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. As long as they're made right, I LOVE them... and I simply MUST have tartar sauce with mine or I won't eat them, period! ____________________________ Bill R. North Alabama _____________________________ I just can't quit grinnin' from all of this winnin'!

Heinz ketchup. Mayo is a surprisingly good alternative to ketchup for french fries. Might be good for hush puppies too, but I haven't tried it yet. Serious about crackers

Used to be a little run down cafeteria in Durham NC, where you got meat, two sides, all the hushpuppies and rolls you could eat and all the tea you could drink. The meat tended to be either BBQ or fried chicken. When it was BBQ, one of the sides was always Brunswick Stew. $0.99 for the meal. This was 1965, though. I like mine plain, one right after the other.
