We all end up with random loose ammo of various calibers. How are ya'll storing them? Im thinking about separating them into several ammo cans by caliber, but wanted your opinion. BTW does loose ammo rattling around in ammo cans degrade the integrity of the ammo?

You can get some heavy duty plastic bags or tupperware. The military has hauled around loose rounds for over 100 years now.

Your title is vague. Describe why you're posting the thread, in the title.

All of my ammunition is loose in ammo cans. You can fit more in there loose. It does not degrade the ammunition.

Arc.

I use clear sterilite containers with locking lids, quart size. I got them from Walmart.

If you have multiple, similar-appearing cartridges (9mm/.380, .270 Win./30-06, for example), putting wrong ammo into a gun could be dangerous. So separate and label them somehow, not just thrown together in a jumble. Ziplock bags with the writing area on them, small cabinets with drawers, leftover tubs of butter (don't laugh, these hold a lot of .22LR, after you've eaten the butter, of course), are just a few ways you could separate and store them.

Depending on the quantity of loose ammo (by caliber) there are a few good ways to store it.

I use metal ammo cans. Mostly the large (50cal?) ones. Painted white with the caliber ID printed on the outside. Works well, and pretty water resistant too.

I like this idea. A desiccant pillow in each bag and another in the can. I'll be doing some of this organizing over the winter.

Minor thread drift: Sterilite just built a new plant near me in Davenport IA, not sure what they'll make there.
