...one like Bill Paxton was wearing when looking through the periscope in the movie U-571. I'm not sure what one of these is called, but it has a huge brim that covers the shoulders, and part of the back. Something you'd wear when fishing the Grand Banks in a hurricane.
Why? Well, the other night we had a severe sudden downpour, and the dog was caught outside in it. He had taken shelter under a thick bush, was completely hidden, and would not come to our call. When the wife couldn't find him in the backyard, she freaked out. I had to go outside at about 2:00AM in shorts and a t-shirt to find him and coax him inside. Sopping wet, all of us, doesn't begin to describe the result. Decided to upgrade my wet weather gear, and a hat like this would go a long way to accomplishing this goal.
Searches on Amazon have been fruitless, perhaps if I knew what it was called. This Sou'wester rain hat is going in the right direction, but lacks a certain style without a much wider brim.
I see references to a "Black Diamond Sou'Wester" that gets closer, anybody in the know about this stuff?
