gjgalliganRecover phone memory
Last fall I bought a couple of Samsung A16 phones (Amazon) for the wife and myself.
I did the transfer of info from old to new.
My old A20 transfer worked great. Her J7 did every thing except none of the pictures transferred.
When I look at gallery old phone plenty of pictures but when I hook up the phone to PC it can see the screen shots but not the photos. Says nothing in pictures.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

architectThere are apps that allow one to explore the actual underlying file system on an Android device. One of these I have used is ESFileExplorer. This would allow bypassing the restrictions in the native photo viewer app and see/copy/move the actual picture files. Some navigation of the file structure would likely be needed.
Another option may be to use cloud storage to sync/copy photos.
I will assume you have already tried connecting the phone to a laptop/desktop via USB, but if you haven't, there are some options here as well, including ADB (Android DeBugger). ADB is what Android developers use to access the storage on the device.
Finally, a full system backup to some accessible media may allow extraction of the relevant files from said media. I am not familiar enough with the current state-of-the-art on Android to know what options exist in this vein, but there must be some.

BigSwedeAn app called "smart switch" worked great on my newer Galaxy
My new Galaxy prompted me to use it, it was already on my new one, had to install it on old phone
