As the title states, my laptop died and I'm thinking of going with a Chromebook as a replacement. I'd like any input on them in general and possible make and model recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Jim

It depends on your intended use. It will do Office 365 but only online. It is capable of using all google applications, but I don’t trust Google to not spy. It will run some PC-type programs but not all.

Get over it!!

I hated the Chromebook my old company gave me. Wouldn't even run ADP Payroll. I bought a MacBook Pro, Parallels and Windoze.

I will be using it for web browsing and email primarily. No office type programs. Pretty much how I use my smart phone. I just want portability and a bigger screen.

I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not

Yep. I agree 100%. I buy from acer refurbished. 15.6" usually under $200.

Thanks, but I'm thinking of an 11.6" screen for better portability and weight.

The Lenovo C330 2-in-1 looks promising. $370 at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G..._encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I've got an 11.6 that I do use for portability but my eyes much prefer 15.6".

My US$0.02.

Chromebooks are nice and serve a purpose. But truth is that they are made with the same hardware components as Windows PC. So in the end you aren't saving anything when buying a comparable Chromebook over a Windows laptop.

I just don't know what you can do with a Chromebook that you can't do with a comparably equiped Windows laptop.
