Then the fuel shouldn't have been gelled. I guess the water mixed with whatever dust, rust, and who knows. Sounds like you're almost finished with it all. How does the bottom of the tank look? Hopefully no rust in there. What a mess, all over forgetting a $10 fuel cap. I had an owner forget to tighten the diesel cap on a yacht in the Turks and Caicos when he fueled it. He then hired people to wash the boat who left the house running non stop down that walkway that fuel tank was on and loose deck cap(had a tank for each of the 2 motors). We idle out to the ocean and set the boat up to cruise and the water alarm goes off. We use Racor fuel filters (primary) and they're water seperators and have a see through bowl and petcock on the bottom......it took an hour of draining, accelerating, draining, accelerating (a little), and draining in a HOT noisy engine room....before I got the water out of it. The tanks were 400 gallons each, so the boat had to be doing about 10 mph or more (lift up the bow) for the water to get to the pickup in the back of the tank. What a mess,

It has a plastic fuel tank with a divot where the drain plug is. They used the drained fuel to burn dead chickens. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

Good on you, Mars. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Water is the enemy of engines. Sounds like you got it all figured out though. What a mess. "Someday I hope to be half the man my bird-dog thinks I am." looking forward to 4 years of TRUMP!

Diesel fuel and water do not get along with each other. As I discovered in a Mercedes Benz diesel car that had not been running for several months in a humid climate. Diesel fuel somehow will attract water over a period of time. Fuel system was clogged with Algae. (Rotten egg smell) $700 cost to completely clean the entire fuel system. ********* "Some people are alive today because it's against the law to kill them".

Generally diesel will not attract water. I deal with diesel fuel on a dozen yachts and they all hold 800-6000 gallons and it sits on some of them for a year at a time. But, once you get any moisture in the tank (usually due to a deck fuel cap with a bad o-ring), the diesel WILL grow algae. We have primary filters that will filter it out and the filter elements are VERY easy to change (like 40 seconds). Also additives have come a VERY long way and will stop the growth of algae in diesel fuel. Diesel KLEEN makes some very good additives. But if it gets past filters it will destroy injector pumps and injectors. I haven't had that issue as when the fuel filters start to get clogged the vessel loses A LOT of power, sometimes 80% and you run down and change filters. Also the Racors are VERY good primary filters and can visually check a filter in 10 seconds (I do this daily when traveling). The Racors also have a plastic see-through bowl with a drain cock and offroad diesel is dyed red, so very easy to see any water and instantly drain it out. Bahamas fuel isn't dyed and is just barely a yellowish color and makes it hard to differentiate fuel and water in the see through bowl.

Lemme tell you about Mr. Nen. He escaped from Vietnam in 1979 at the age of 25. He was 9 years old when the communists murdered his whole family for him not joining up with the VC to work his family farm. He ran from the reeducation camp and was taken in by the Catholic Church in South Vietnam. At 25, he made his way to a fishing boat which ran out of fuel trying to make it to Thailand. He was the only survivor when he was picked up by a merchant vessel. He earned his passage to America from the refugee working for the Catholic Church. He worked in California flipping burgers until he moved to Atlanta with nothing but a car and his wits. They hired him here where I work and his ingenuity, resourcefulness and unstoppable attitude earned him to one of the highest ranked, most trusted managers at the company. He and I hit it off when no matter what I would not lie to him. We think so much alike. He admires me because I was raised in the country like he was. We both can relate to each other because we both love being around a farm away from people. He knows these hicks will try to rip him off, so he has me be his translator. He has a network of these Vietnamese owned chicken farms he helps the owners out with as they are easy prey for unscrupulous people. He can translate for them and has me to ensure someone won't lie to him because he's a "foreigner". Also by bringing me in, it makes him look more important to the owners, who already treat me like royalty. LOL He HATES communists, LOVES America and considers his citizenship he EARNED a gift from god. He literally lost everything, came here with nothing and has my sincerest admiration. He is literally like a brother to me. We absolutely enjoy each other's company as different as we are. You can hear his laughter in our rat shooting videos as he absolutely loves to have fun and enjoys the life he has here. There are very few people I admire so much and he is right at the top of the list. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

Cheers to you and Nen, Marzy. At the same time, I understand why you don't want to do this job. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Well, the new pump is finally in! Nen is pleased and he brought me a pound of Chinese Crispy Pig with some Banh Mi for us to eat while I worked. Just for giggles I disassembled the lift pump and found this. The gray goo and particulate matter all in the screen. Got a thorough cleaning. Mr. Nen is pleased. He IS smiling. Good on you, guys like you are a treasured resource. I grew up in logging and mining country where you learned to work on all manner of equipment and vehicles. No Iphones or video games to distract young knuckle heads. These days we are often forced to have work done that I can no longer do. You're right, It HURTS

Out of curiosity, how much does a tractor like that sell for?

About $25,000 used. It's WAY too big for a chicken farm. I am encouraging them to trade it even for a Bobcat. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.
