Hey gang..I have this reel, but not the part to convert it to right hand winding/retrieve. The factory support and repair facilities have none. I have searched high n low..calling shops recommended by them..the only maybe part on ebay does not look to be correct. So, anyone on here have this reel and doesn't need the shaft to convert it to right hand use? Thanks.

It looks like this

Factory diagram lists the part number RD 9906

I’m no help, but that’s my son’s dream reel. At least it was because we switch all our reels to right hand.

Don't you just crank the handle backwards to unscrew it from one side and back forward on the side of the reel you want it to be on (after removing the end cap)?

I wish. Not on this model. It takes a separate shaft.

A machine shop can make you one.
Just give them the old one and specify the thread direction.

The one on e-bay is probably less.
It says make offer too.

You might try Bass Pro Shops rod and reel repair. 417-873-5274. They carry a lot of parts.

You have 2 options.
1. Go on "The Hull Truth" website and do a search for reel repair there, there are 2 guys on there that stock and have seen everything Shimano.
2. Your other easy option would be to sell that reel on ebay (they bring big money) and buy the proper one.

A one off item like that , made of stainless I assume , will probably cost as much as the one on Ebay . If not more .

Yup, one of the first places I looked. Sold out. I called the factory recommended sites with no luck as well.

Thanks for checking

There's a rod and reel service shop on my path to and from work. I'll fish out his info and email you shortly.

Thanks my friend. I will give them a call tomorrow. In all my calls I have found another parts reel, but it doesn't have the exact piece I need. Bummer.
