Is this just the dust settling, or is this another piece of the "Why Big Buisness Is In Lockshamble With The Woke These Days" puzzle falling into place?

U.S. Chamber Opposes Democratic Voting Rights Bill
Reuters Staff, 4/13/2021

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce said on Tuesday it strongly opposes a Democratic-backed bill that is aimed at rewriting U.S. voting law, saying it would punish corporations and associations that engage in political advocacy.

Democrats say the bill, which updates voting procedures and requires states to turn over the redrawing of congressional district lines to independent commissions, is needed to overcome Republican efforts to make voting across the country harder.

Many Republican-controlled state legislatures are exploring steps that voting-rights advocates say would reduce turnout after record-setting participation in the November 2020 general election.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce said it wants more people brought into the political process but that the bill would have "precisely the opposite effect - pushing certain voices, representing large segments of the electorate and U.S. economy, out of the political process altogether."

The Chamber, in a letter to senators, said the legislation would "regulate and ultimately silence Americans who choose to petition their government or participate in the political process through the collective action of an association or corporation."

We'll have to see how this all plays out, of course, but it does bring intriguing possibilities to mind. Were the buisnesses trying to protect themselves from this happening when they turned on first Trump and then Georgia? Did the Dems promise buisnesses something in return for turning on conservatives, and are they now knifing the buisnesses in the back to avoid having to give buisness a seat at the table? The possibilities just seem to keep multiplying when the bad guys fall out amongst themselves in the aftermath of a theft.

The bottom line is still the same, though - if corporations and private political advocacy associations are silenced, then sooner or later only the Dems and the groups the Dems approve of will have the right to speak, to argue for or against proposals, to take the initiative or to develop policies. You might add being able to introduce candidates on a statewide or national basis to that list as well.

If the Dems tell the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to go screw itself on this one, then the U.S. Chamber of Commerce better put on some a' them sweaters with a giant letter "T" knitted into the front and "2024" on the back and start shaking some orange pom-poms in the air.
