Our dogs are truly family members and it hurts us terribly when something is wrong.

I'm praying for a full recovery for Pumpkin.

Thank you so much everybody. We got him home today and he Settled down pretty quickly. The evening that he had his leg casted was absolutely brutal as the sedatives wore off and he came too in a small cage in hotel room with a cast on his leg. He was absolutely screaming.

It's rough to see an animal in pain especially if it's yours.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Prayers sent for Pumpkin's speedy and complete recovery. I had a toy poodle who lived to 17 and he road shotgun with me for thousands of miles. I agree with Shugart - Poodles are the bestest.

Hat tip to you newmexican for being a doggy dad extraordinaire! Smile

Sorry for your pain (and especially your pup's pain!).

Sounds like it was a non-displaced fracture, or they wouldn't have agreed to try to fix it with a cast. So from that perspective, it's good news. Just remember to confine, confine, confine, and that the cast weighs more than the puppy's leg would normally, and the cast itself can turn the leg into a fulcrum, so avoid areas where puppy can jump or get hung up. Bad ju-ju!

Prayers and best wishes sent your way!

Prayers sent for pumpkin.
Out Katie a Brittany broke her right rear leg when she was about 5 months old. In a cast for 6 weeks as I recall. She did fine and will be 5 in April.
My best buddy...wishing you all the same results.
