Because those are very different levels of crazy, I think. If they like putting on costumes, don’t care. If they think, because someone says so, he actually become the opposite sex/a dog/cat etc… That’s probably someone who needs to be institutionalized… I think if we start locking people up for being crazy, all kinds of good things will happen - but this stuff becomes far less popular/goes back to the old gay “queen” stuff, when they knew they were gay men, who just enjoyed spangles and heels. | ||

I had a good talk with an HR person a couple of years ago. We both had heard of an employer not too far away who actually had to find a place to put a litterbox, because an employee "identified as a cat" (and they evidently weren't sure how to get that person off their payroll). Now, whether that person truly believed it or was playing a game of "let's see what I can get away with," we're not really sure. I find it troubling in our country we're teaching/encouraging people to believe they're men when they're women, women who think they're aman or thinking they can pretend to be a cat or dog when our enemies are teaching their kids to use AK47's and build bombs so they can kill us. | |||

I would guess that many start off playing "dress up," and start liking the attention they receive. After some time in these roles, they gradually come to believing their own BS, and demanding that others do so as well (they get even more attention this way). Over time this can lead to full on dementia. Believing in pretty much anything that cannot be truthful can eventually lead to mental illness due to the irreconcilable thoughts that arise. A cat box in the office? C'mon man! Peeing and shitting in sand? And who gets to clean the box? Thank goodness he/she isn't identifying as an animal that can't control their sphincter, but really? That an employer would tolerate such behavior for an instant seems incredible! | |||

Gender Dysphoria is a mental health condition described in the DSM 5. I would say that trans people feel that their DNA determined sex is incongruous with their mental perception of themselves. I don’t know if they believe they actually become the opposite gender or what the deal is. I saw a documentary about Star Trek nerds (of which I am one). "Trekkers" maybe. . . Anyway, they interviewed a crazy woman who wears her Starfleet 'uniform' everywhere, even to jury duty. Now, I don't know if she was sincere or just hamming it up for the camera, but she said that people in the military wear their uniforms wherever they go, so why should it be any different for her. Never mind that Starfleet isn't real and her Starfleet ID card was something she probably got from a mail order novelty shop. Point being, people often take their hobbies to ridiculous extremes (I am reminded of the guy here who decided he would "live by the gun"). I find furries to be disturbing, and I assume they themselves are disturbed. Even so, I expect they all fall on a spectrum, ranging from 'ok everybody needs a hobby' relatively harmless and benign levels to "Batsh*t Crazy/needs serious mental counseling levels. There was a CSI Vegas episode years ago about furries. That is where I got 90% of my info on them. I don't want anything to do with them. There is cosplay and there is gender identity disorder. Both are getting lots of attention just like psychopathy was with Silence of the Lambs. This will pass and there will be those who identify as plants. Gender identity and cosplay are not associated with criminality. | |||

I call BS on gender identity not being associated with criminality. Admittedly, only had professional interactions with a few, but one was definitely a predator, using it for access. Both were highly unstable. The other went into criminal behavior, simply due to the nature of its employment, and its struggles with reality. (Admittedly, neither had a “stable” gender identity.) | |||
