I didn't know where to put this, pistol or lounge but I figured more people would see this in the lounge, so I ended up posting it here.

A preface to say that I do not own this gun and have no interest in the sale (would like to own it! but don't). I saw it on a email and wanted to post it for everyone.

The back story is that the Hollywood rental company purchased this gun specifically for HEAT and did some specific blank modifications for this movie specifically. It appears that in 2007, the rental company auctioned off many rental guns (in England? or maybe just the auction company was located in England).

The auction brochure indicated a "going price" of $600 to $1200. The asking price is now $100K.

The "company" that is now selling the gun has sold other guns from some sort of collection before (they had "Old Blue Eyes" Frank Sinatra's guns and a few other ones before).

As a side note, the original auction in 2007 had some cool stuff!

Definitely a cool pistol from a very entertaining movie, but priced WAY out of my range! At least for those on the east coast or visiting the DC area, the NRA National Firearms Museum has several other firearms that were used in Heat, as well as many other TV and movie firearms that were donated or loaned, such as the Model 29 used in Dirty Harry. Lots of SIGs there, too!

Personally I’d rather have that rifle he used to drop Tom Sizemore with.

My guess is my Sig 1911 TacOps is a lot better gun for a very small fraction of the price.

Looks like a pretty run of the mill piece to me, having been used by a famous person in a movie is of no value to me.

I’d buy it except that 1) I already have one, and 2) those roll marks never appealed to me.

The pistol has been altered for blank firing.

The price is obscene and emblematic of our shallow, not-all-that-bright era.

You certainly can buy the story, as long as it's documented and verifiable.

Indeed. The “buy the gun and not the story” advice is only valid if you are trying to buy a gun to be a gun. If you want an investment piece then the story can be very valuable.

In this case you aren’t really buying a gun anyway. This is a prop, no different than an outfit worn by Elvis or a car driven by Steve McQueen.

looks like in an odd way too,

the slide has been cut to expose the rear lug on the barrel,

most blanked guns I have seen for the Reenactment crowd are simply plugged (threaded allen screw in the muzzle with hole) and other parts of the barrel modified,

I did sell a Luger that had part of the toggle modified ,, (that was a shame to see)
but not visible from the exterior

I had in my mind's eye that it was a compact double stack para-ordnance. Proves me wrong.

Gives me reason to pull out the blue ray and enjoy the film one more time.
