mrmoneybagsQuick question for jewelers/metalworkers
Hey all,
My fiancee bought my wedding band, and I'd like it to be wider, but do not want to swap it or melt/add gold/remake it because I'm sentimental.
So, the question:
Gold ring is a 3mm. Is it possible to take, say, a 6 or 7mm titanium band, machine a channel into it, and "set" the gold ring into it? I feel like a competent jeweler would be able to heat the gold to some ductile temperature, "snap" it into the channel, and work it down to a smooth finish. I'm not a jeweler though!
Thanks!

arfmelCall Dave Truong at Mimi’s Jewelry. He’ll be able to suggest a solution.

Chris42Yes. Such work can be done. Don’t believe it would be terribly difficult. Might not be exactly cheap, but nothing a jeweler does is.
If your idea doesn’t fly, two titanium bands/rings could be attached to opposite edges.
This comes from a metalworker/machinist, not a jeweler.

Tooky13As 'arfmel' said, that would be right up Dave Truong's alley. Here's one of his threads with his email and phone number:

Thanks, I planned to contact him anyway, but wanted to avoid posting a "Paging [member]" thread.
Just wanted to test the waters and see if this was feasible.

hrcjonI have learned this directly and repetitively from my wife. You can have anything you want in jewelry provided you are willing to pay for it.
