honestlouBald Eagle is now officially the national bird of the U.S.
Who knew it wasn’t already?
https://apnews.com/article/bid...249891d5daf11bf3ceb2“WASHINGTON (AP) — The bald eagle, a symbol of the power and strength of the United States for more than 240 years, earned an overdue honor on Tuesday: It officially became the country’s national bird.
President Joe Biden signed into law legislation sent to him by Congress that amends the United States Code to correct what had long gone unnoticed and designate the bald eagle — familiar to many because of its white head, yellow beak and brown body — as the national bird.
The bald eagle has appeared on the Great Seal of the United States, which is used in official documents, since 1782, when the design was finalized. The seal is made up of the eagle, an olive branch, arrows, a flag-like shield, the motto “E Pluribus Unum” and a constellation of stars.
Congress that same year designated the bald eagle as the the national emblem, and its image appears in a host of places, ranging from documents and the presidential flag to military insignia and U.S. currency, according to USA.gov.
But it had never been officially designated to be what many had just assumed it was — the national bird.
The bald eagle is indigenous to North America.”

1s1kI didn’t know that it wasn’t already. I’m fortunate to get to watch them have supper while I’m doing the same.

Johnny 3eaglesDaughter's new house has a resident Bald Eagle in her back wooded yard, overlooking a year-round stream. Christmas eve it enjoyed a duck dinner.
If you're goin' through hell, keep on going.
Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it.
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there.

Rey HRHI thought it already was.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

bcereussI’d just as soon they spend their time on this type of issue instead of passing new laws designed to separate me from my money and make America less safe.

2000Z-71Bald Eagles are one of my favorite photography subjects. But they kind of lose their majestic image after you see them dumpster diving in the parking lot of the Burger King in Ketchikan, AK.

SilvermineI too thought the Bald Eagle was already the National Bird. I have seen 13 of them this year, not even looking for them. Most within a mile of the Clark Fork River. Sometimes I see them eating road kill on the side of Interstate 90 along with a flock of buzzards.

UTsigThat's great news! I love to look for Eagles in SW Utah, don't often get lucky. This one was my avatar on here for quite a while.

abnmacvBetter late than never. Considering the nutty the call-in Biden agenda the status of the Bald Eagle is a plus for America.

Well the turkey does taste a lot better than the eagle!
But I have to say, this act of Biden's is the only one I can recall with which I have no problem!
More likely it will turn out that Baldy was official after all, and FJB just didn't know it.
