Mini mill machine suggestions?
I want to make a few things out of G10 and need to cut slots and I think a mill may be the best for the use. Better than a drill and jigsaw. Slots about 1” by 3/8” through 3/16” and 1/4” stock.

I have the mini mill from micromark and it is pretty handy- I added the CNC kit from cncfusion and have machined parts, engraved text etc. with great results.

If you're handy, fabbing up something with a router and cross slide vise would be capable of cutting G10 I would think. I've never machined composites, but I would think high RPM would be needed for clean cuts, something most hobby type mills can't achieve .

There is a good case for a decent used small Bridgeport if you can find one. They are much better than imports by aa long shot.

Grizzly has a decent selection of import mill/drill machines, which are a cut above in quality over most imports. I have the G0619 and am quite pleased with its output. A couple of mods from a Grizzly mailing list make it easier to change setups. An R-8 spindle will offer many accessories.

Grizzly small mills.

The trick will be finding one! Being unable to locate a good used B-port at a decent price: I wound up with a new Republic Lagun mill. Spanish made, but 100% equal to a Bridgeport. No, I didn't consider any Asian made machines.

Just curious. How big is a "small" Bridgeport?
Worked on a big one in the machine shop in med school--most fun I had that year.

Huh?

Sorry for the drift but, what I cannot fathom how a Bridgeport and med school meet up!

Best regards,
