I hope you have a speedy recovery. I had my left hip replaced 5 years ago at age 59, recovery was a little slower for me as mine had been replaced using the posterior procedure. +1 on the bonesmart forum, lots of good information there. Arthritis is what did my old hip in. ____________________________ NRA Life Member, Annual Member GOA, MGO Annual Member

The dogs return to the house tomorrow. I will be sealed off in the master bedroom for the first week! "I don't shoot well, but I shoot often." - Pres. T. Roosevelt

Keep at the PT, my wife had a hip done last year. She stuck to the PT and was weeks ahead of others, according to the therapist. Doing more than the program is counter productive, just follow the therapist. Three months later she had a partial knee done, same therapist, she did great.

Bassamatic - it’s a tube attached to a plastic device with a chamber and floating device. I believe the official name is spirometer. I inhale with the tube in my mouth and the float rises. As I understand it it serves two purposes: First to help you get rid of any of the gas left in the lungs from being put under and the other is to help combat pneumonia. I’m showing a marked improvement from first day to today when I use. I won’t go into the crap I’ve coughed up while using it.This message has been edited. Glad your surgery went well and that you are back at home. I had the anterior replacement of my right hip in Nov of 2015. Out patient since my wife is a PT and rehabs a bunch of the doc's patients. She had me up and walking and doing my heel slides that afternoon. Apparently the heel slides aren't recommended as much any more. But walking is still recommended of course. Any way keep up with the PT and good luck with your recovery.

UPDATE; I’m 12 days after surgery. I stopped using the walker Friday. (I still use it to get the mail since I have a backpack slung over the front to carry the mail back to the house.) I stopped taking pain pills yesterday afternoon. My thigh is still weak and the muscles are still sore, despite being rubbed for hours a day. I’m sick of the compression socks, those come off on Wednesday. My incision itches like crazy. I see the PA on Thursday and hopefully get released from the daily bandage change. Three week anniversary was celebrated with a walk around Costco (needed gin). Plus I did 15 minutes on my recumbent indoor bike. Things are looking good. Doctor last week cautioned not to over do things. "I don't shoot well, but I shoot often." - Pres. T. Roosevelt

Keep up the good work. Do the rehab as long as the doctor says to. ____________________________ NRA Life Member, Annual Member GOA, MGO Annual Member
