I have an ancestor's watch from the early 1900s. Not a real significant to me relative since I never met them. Its pretty fancy with an amazing chain. The chain is sections of quartz veined with gold. It runs, but getting up to a reliable state of near perfection would be several hundred dollars, and you have to do clean and lubes on a schedule whether you use it or not. Apparently when you bought a fancy watch back then, you picked a case and movement and assembled them. I've seen period prices for both my movement and a similar case, and they weren't cheap.

I’ve thought about carrying an Apple Watch in that fashion. I would never wear one, as a watch, but I like the idea of carrying a small item to use Apple Pay/I suppose to get messages etc, but I prefer to carry a flip phone

I got a Million of 'em! |
I have a Swiss Army pocketwatch. I don’t use any watch anymore but my daughter recently wanted a pocketwatch. Something she watches, someone had one I think, so I gave her mine. She’s given it more use than I have in the last ten years or so.
