One of the biggest pluses for Amazon is not having to set up multiple accounts for every vendor. One-click buying can get expensive though if you don't watch yourself.

Of course. No one is loyal to Amazon. It's just that a lot of the time, Amazon out-competes the competition. If they don't they lose. They know this.

Woke up today.. Great day! |
Amazon prices have definitely been going up significantly the past couple years IMO. They were cheap enough to drive out lots of their previous competition so now they are trying to take advantage of their market position. I find myself buying less and less from AZ and more and more locally whenever possible.

Walmart was buying up various online sites, such as Moosejaw and Jet.com, which was supposed to be their challenge to Amazon, however Walmart is dogmatically welded to their inventory control processes. Unfortunately, for them, they know their name denotes a certain impression amongst vendors and many have refused to sell to them. As for warehouse workers complaining about Amazon work conditions....consider, warehousing is very competitive now. UPS and FedEx are going to get the top-tier warehouse workers. They're unionized and their contracts are pretty favorable, both brands handle distribution for a variety of companies. Then there's the menagerie of Third Party warehouses (3PL), most are regional operations which support small and medium sized businesses; they compete directly with Amazon's warehouse locations for talent, which also includes management and supervisors. Within the distribution and inventory management business, getting measured by productivity metrics is pretty standard, no different than those who work on a production line. I would wager that those complaining about Amazon got it into their head they thought they were working for a tech company with all sorts of 'cool' work environment perks and then got a reality slap that ....its just a distribution center. Shitty managers and shitty workers (slackers) are part n'parcel the reality of the warehouse business, it's a physical job that doesn't require a whole lot of technical knowledge.

Looks like Jeff Bezos owns Amazon... for all practical purposes. He owns 16%, or 78,000,000 shares. The next three largest stock owners have only about 205,000. Combined. Collecting dust.

ATT was/is much worse and I was there in the late 70's. Hold up your hand for permission to pee, one person of 100 out per time. When they got busy, no one could leave. Fire drills- every other employee stayed on the phones. They became much worse. Don't feel sorry for Amazon employees yet

I worked for them 20 years ago and never saw anything like that. People could piss and shit when they wanted to, even during outages. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone
