I bought a bike from a guy whose daughter was studying to become a forensic pathologist and had spent some time there. That place would be beyond creepy, and I don't have the constitution for it. But that is the Lord's work and I'd love to contribute in some small way.

There’s a couple of dealers (07/02) in this thread. Maybe y’all can help. I’m a sole proprietor, 07/02. Family consists of my wife and our 15yo daughter. There are several NFA items in my collection I’d like one or more of my best friends to have. We had trusts & wills made up when our daughter was little but they need to be amended / updated. How do I leave an NFA item to someone?

I am in a similar position to many of the posters, as I am in my late seventies. My late wife and I set up an estate trust in Virginia years ago, but once she passed and I moved to SC, I learned from an excellent estate attorney in SC portions of the trust would need to be reworked to conform to SC estate law, specifically protect assets and to minimize probate. Healthcare directives can also be state specific. Earlier this summer, he informed me that SC now allowed motor vehicles to bypass probate through the use of Time of Death (TOD) registrations, which allow title to pass to a designated individual upon your passing. With respect to firearms, I have gradually reduced my holdings, starting with the firearms purchased and owned by my late wife. I plan to continue the process; in the interim, firearms and ammunition are securely stored. I do work with a local gunsmith I consider a friend and have been in touch with a local gun store that does estate sales but does not advertise that fact. Based on my military service, I will be buried in the same plot as my wife at Arlington National Cemetery but in checking with ANC recently for preplanning purposes, they now want additional documentation, specifically the executor of my estate must have a notarized document specifying that they have the legal authority to direct the disposition of my remains. Things change. And lastly, my estate attorney at our last meeting encouraged me to write out "letters of instruction" for the executor of my estate. These letters can address day to day things, like where to find keys, documents, final wishes, etc.

If they're non-transferrables, that'd be a no go. For transferrables, assuming you're no longer around to Form 4 them to your friends, and I'm guessing here, if they're in a trust, then a trustee or RP could Form 4 them to your friends.

In the past four years my wife and I lost both of our mothers, fathers passed several years back. I have a younger sister that took herself out of the family years ago and a useless older sister, my with lost her brother a few years back leaving her the only child. We had to deal with everything ourselves and to say it was challenging finding things would be an understatement. In making as sure as I can to not have our son go through the same, beyond the wills I have hard copies and digital copies of everything important for him. He should have everything home, bill, and financial related at his fingertips.
