Anyone else enjoying Jersey Mike's Sub's?

GWbikerAnyone else enjoying Jersey Mike's Sub's?
In Tucson foothills, it's a place called AJ's Fine foods, in the La Encantada Mall with it's excellent deli section.
Side note about Jasons: Local gun crowd several years ago asked Jason's manager for OK to carry a dinner meeting in one of the stores meeting room. Since beer is served there, everyone would conceal carry and not partake.
Stupid manager phoned corporate for their permission.
"No guns allowed" signs went up a few days later.
I haven't been back since that day.

BRL#56 Big Kahuna Cheesesteak every time. Just outstanding. It's a lot goeyier of a mess than the picture. That's what makes it great for me.

WarhorseI also like Jersey Mike's, #13 Mike's way.
I actually prefer a sub that I used to buy "down in the 'hood" many years ago when I worked that area of southwest Detroit. The name of the place is "Gonella's", one of the owners sons opened up another location in Redford MI. Good stuff Maynard!!

recoatliftThe best Chicago Beefs use Gonella bread. That bread holds the juice like no other. Absolutely delicious.

providentWe do like Jersey Mike's and Primos for sure. Tomorrow, thanks to many of you, we are going to try Firehouse. We were surprised to learn that we have them here!! (No Jersey Mike or Primos).

vthokyA Jersey Mike's opened in the next town over not long ago. I've been there once. It was good, but -- damn! -- it was expensive. Sandwich, chips, and drink came to $13 and change.
Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around.

tatortoddI had not had Jersey Mike’s so I rectified it tonight. I had a regular #7 Mike’s Way. It was damn good despite the 7:45 PM bread. I’d like to try one at 11:00 AM when the bread is fresh. One of the better cold subs I’ve had. Price was in line with what I remember at Potbelly’s (really busy sandwich chain popular around Houston) and Firehouse.
I’m more of a hot sub guy. In high school, I worked at a mom & pop sub & pizza shop that had the best hot subs. Owners daughter ran the restaurant and owners son ran his bread distributor business. Awesome bread for the subs and great secret sauce. 25 years later I still go back.

If I can't be back home to get a good submarine sandwich, Jersey Mike's it is.
On a side note, one of the things I always loved about getting a sandwich at a shop vice making it at home was the mayo. I guess most places use "heavy" mayonnaise and it tastes much better to me. I looked around to buy it but it seems like it is only sold in bulk sized containers.
My favorite sandwich is roast beef, extra mayo, pickles, and red hots. Delicious!
This!
When it comes to national chains, Jersey Mike's is hard to beat. It's telling that New Jersey was one of the last states JM penetrated beyond a couple of the originals. They are good but don't really compare to a proper Jersey sub shop.
Also, certain grocery store delis make some killer subs and are usually cheaper. I would choose Harris Teeter over Jersey Mikes just based on the fact that the subs are just as good and half the price.
Jimmy Johns is too hit and miss.
Firehouse Subs is GROSS!!! Their bread is sweet which put me off immediately.

Possibly the best sub shop in the business.

carb counter wraps. 5g carbs each. Some meat, cheese and either ranch or mustard. Good low carb sandwich substitute.

71 TRUCKMy wife and I grew up on the Jersey shore.
There is nothing like a sub from a local mom and pop pizza shop. We really did not have sub only shops around where we lived.
They use the best bread, meats and cheeses from some of the best suppliers around. We really miss the subs from home.
When we moved to Florida we could not find anything close to what we left back home in New Jersey till Jersey Mikes Opened.
So far they are about as close to the subs we remember from home we have found near where we live.
My wife works in south Orlando and I would take her to lunch at a Jersey Mikes near where she works.
They just opened one near where we live so we can go any time now.
Several years ago my wife and I had gone to one of their franchise meetings to see how much it would take to start one. Our friends sister owns several of them and they do well. The cost was to much out of our price range.

Today was my first Mikes, I enjoyed a 56 myself. I will return. Don't quite understand the hate for Jimmy Johns though, I'm a Billy Club fan.

p226gsdI always get the #17. No onions or peppers, just the steak and cheese, love it.

DonDraperJersey Mikes would typically be my first choice. The meat is noticeably better quality. I often get a mini - turkyey, cheese, lettuce, onions, mayo, little tiny bit of oil/vinegar.
I also like Which Wich - those are quality subs.

I like Sigs and HK's, and maybe Glocks

I was thinking about Larry's Giant Subs as I read through this post. Larry's is my go-to, had a Destroyer there today. JM's is pretty good, but having grown up in NJ it's not quite the same. Elsie's in Red Bank is the best!

Red Bank NJ. I haven't thought about it for a long time.
November 1964, I took my first checkride there. Passed it, and my flying career was started.
I'm pretty sure that Red Bank airport no longer exists.

arfmelOnly place we have in Jerkwater for subs is Subway. The meat is slimy and the veggies are swill. If you just walk in there your clothes smell like hork for the next 30 minutes. I think it's the "aroma" of their stinkbread.
