parabellumFor all forum members: You need a working email address
If you've been a member of the forum for a long time, there's a good chance the email address you used for registering here is no longer valid. For example, in many instances, members used a work email address and they no longer have access to that email.
If you don't have access to the email address you used for registration (this is
not the email address you may have specified in the 'Display Email' field of your profile, but rather, the email address near the top of your profile), then you will be locked out of your account if you have a problem with your password, because in order to change your password, you must be able to receive an email at that new address, in order to click an embedded verification link.
If you are logged into the forum, you can change your email address. To do this:
In the upper left hand corner, click Go >> Personal Zone >> Profile. In the upper right hand corner, click View/Edit Complete Profile. Check the box for Change Account Email?
Enter the new email address, then re-enter in the field below. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Submit.
You'll need to open the email the forum sends you and click the embedded link to confirm your new email address. There is a range of email domains you will not be able to use. Proton Mail has proven over the years to be used by risky accounts registering here, so it is disallowed, no exceptions. Any "disposable" email domains I have identified are disallowed. Many foreign email domains, etc. If you try to use something which has been disallowed, you will get notification on the page, and then you can choose something else.
This is important, guys, since it allows you to reset your password, but it's also the first step in preparation for the reopening of the Classifieds section. The process of doing so involves some choices which I will explain shortly, and I will be asking for comments from members regarding just how we should go about getting our marketplace going again,
safely.
But, first things first. Make sure you have an email address you can access. If nothing else, Gmail is free and would work nicely for this purpose.
Any questions, please ask. We are getting things back to normal here.

benny6Verified! I'd wager 25 years on SF constitutes a "long time."
