Care to advise of the Rapid City bakery location, and I can get one to sample?
Jim,
Just looked up the doberge which is made with multiple thin layers of cake interspersed with layers of dessert pudding. Looks to be quite a bit different but appreciate the reference. Quite interesting.

[Picture below]
As for the bakery, it's the Sweet Secrets bakery on Mt. Rushmore Road across the street from Safeway. If you order a shadow cake
please mention "Bob" to Sarah who is the one there I had extensive conversations with about this treat. Maybe they'll make it a regular item.

USMCE4retiredWOW!
That picture of all those fancy pastries in the glass case reminds me of a little shop in Germany.
During the '72 Med Cruise we had to have the ship repaired in Willhelmhaven.
While "cruising" the town we came across this bakery full of the most wonderful treats.
Within an hour of the word getting out the shelves were bare. Everyone emptied their 12x12x18" lockers onto their bunks and stuffed them with treasure.
Good times.

Their place frankly brought back a lot of fond memories from my youth. Good Times indeed!
