Of course, you have to be 70 to qualify and I haven't been hunting since 2013 or fishing since long before that, but what the hell, I might want to and for that price, why not?

$1,800 in TX for a lifetime hunt/fish combo license.

$1k for either on its own.

Or, for $5, you can get in the lottery for a lifetime Super Combo (hunt/fish).

That's a great deal. Here in Wa. there is no break for seniors.

I paid $1,500 for mine here in Tennessee. When my kids were born I bought them lifetime licenses for $200 each so it’s quite a deal!

In Oregon, if you have 30%+ veteran disability, you get a lifetime hunt/fish license. I still have to pay for steelhead/salmon/shellfish/deer/elk tags, but the general license is for life.

We also get one permanent veteran's license plate and a lifetime state parks parking pass.

Oklahoma - Disabled Vet - $200 for hunting and fishing. Just need to buy migratory stamps for those type birds. This was about 8-10 years ago

Do those prices include tags as well as license fees?

The Texas lifetime license includes all state endorsements ("you're allowed to hunt/fish for X animal" options) except the reptile and amphibian one. For most common hunting and fishing activities in Texas, the only extra thing you need to buy is the federal duck stamp.

Only a few things in Texas require tags, and most are included with the general resident hunting or fishing license (the standard licenses come with tags for deer, turkey, and one red drum over the normal 28" maximum size limit).

The only real extra tags you can buy are a second oversize red drum tag, a saltwater trotline tag, and a non-commercial shrimp trawl tag.

My parents bought me a Texas lifetime combo license about 15 years ago when I was in college (when it was $1000), because you have to be a Texas resident to buy the lifetime license, but once you have it, you get the free resident combo license every year forever, even if you move out of Texas.

The Texas non-resident fishing license is more expensive than the resident one, but it's not crazy. The Texas non-resident hunting license is bonkers expensive.

For a Texas resident, the super combo license (described above) is $68 per year.

For a non-resident, you can't buy the super combo, so to get effectively the same license, you need a $68 non-resident all-water fishing license, a $315 non-resident general hunting license, $7 archery hunting endorsement, $7 Texas Migratory Bird endorsement, and $7 Texas Upland Bird endorsement, for a total of $404.

Needless to say, the lifetime license pays for itself pretty quickly if you ever move out of Texas but still want to come back to hunt.

I knew I guy who owned into the middle of the Yellowstone River. Dave Holland. An early 1900s deeded plot adjacent to the defunct pump station below Gardiner came up for sale. And he bought it. Used to brag how "any friends can fish in my river whenever they want".

$70 here in Georgia for over 65.

The prices went up about 2 years ago, but I got both of my sons their lifetime licenses as infants for $200. It is now $500 for anyone under 2 y.o.

For a regular hunting license in NJ, it's $27.50. After I turned 65, it went down to $15.50. Bird stamps cost a few more dollars. Salt water license is free, fresh water with trout stamp is $22 another $12 for the trout stamp. Senior fresh water license is $12.50.
