How do you run grips? I know how to take them off, install them, and wrap my hands around them, but I have no idea how to run them.

Hogue makes awesome grips for revolvers; I have a custom Big Butt for my 627 PC, and just got my wife one for her 520 that is part rubber with the bottom a lovely wood Big Butt.
Ask my wife how she likes her new big butt!

S&W 520 ?! That’s a very cool piece. I’ve never seen one in the wild let alone offered for sale

This is the newer 520. 7-shot titanium cylinder, L frame. Randy Lee did his magic on it and it reliably ignites primers with 5.5 lb. DA pull.

I really like Hogue grips and have bought versions in aluminum,G-10,rubber and even a set in wood for a 1911. They all fit perfectly and arrived quickly after ordering.

They still are. Have been running Nill grips on my P226 and P228. Absolutely love the shape of them and they are beautiful, especially the P228 grips with years of carry patina.
However, I recently bought an older P229 in 9mm so I could get it milled and get a red dot on it (not an option on the P228). Said P229 came with both the original grips (since karma'd) and a mounted set of Hogue G-10 black checkered. Dang, that pistol just stays put in the hands a lot better. Quick trip up to Paso and they had the same grips for the P226 in stock. No such luck on the P229 grips, but the helpful gentleman there said they should be making them in a couple weeks and I could either come back or just order online and they'd ship direct. I ordered and they showed up at the house inside of a week. Gotta love Hogue.
Oh, and they have no objection to you bringing in a pistol to try different grips on it. They just ask that it be unloaded when you bring it in. Very nice and helpful folks.

@.38supersig: How do the checkered aluminum grips differ from the checkered G10? Are they the same shape or different?

That’s awesome service for such a large company.
I have used Hogue grips on so many different guns I couldn’t list them all.
Next project might be a 10-22 build up.

Chalk me up as one more user/lover of G-10 checkered grips. When I bought my 220 from a member here, it had some Roco grips that look like Nils on it. Metal and wood was my mantra at that time. They were too thick for my right ham hand so I tried some stock plastic 'thin' grips that I never could get the fit right on. Ken Hogue came on the forum here offering just phenomenal pricing for green G-10's some years ago now. I got some and along with the short reach trigger of the SAS gen.2, fit my hand like they were made custom for me.

Thanks again, Ken.
