At the end of a typical work day, weigh yourself with everything, clothes, vests, shoes, wallet, shades, pens, knives, keys, CCW and mags, communication gear, etc.

Not so much what you wield in hand like chains saws, Jaws of Life, briefcases, pizza warmers, laptops, video cameras, etc.

Then strip nekkid, weigh yourself, subtract and post the difference.

It'd be interesting to see what we all bear on a typical day.

I suspect police officers, EMT's and firemen might take the heavy load honors, and retired folks the low end.

OK to post photos of yourself in gear, or the gear itself in a pile on the floor, but, please, no nekkid selfies.

I'll try to remember to do this at end of today to participate.

When I was a policeman, it was 30 pounds of gear...uniform, boots, vest, belt, gun etc...

Now it’s wallet, watch, phone, knife, my clothes and a Glock 19

I try to carry very little stuff. My shoes are undoubtedly my heaviest item. Three or four pounds depending on the shoes?

Would you be wearing only one, or the both of 'em?

I travel light. Togas don't come with pockets.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." About 25 extra pounds or thereabouts at work.

I don't have a scale, but shirt, jeans, socks and shoes--maybe 2-5 pounds.

I don't think this thread was intended for folks like me, though.

When I was working in uniform, it was probably around 25ish pounds.

Now that I'm working plainclothes, it's much less. Usually just a holstered handgun, badge, spare mag, cuffs, knife, and light, plus wallet, keys, and 2 phones. So probably 5 pounds or less.

I don't have a scale with which to weigh myself.

Well, all ready for work I'm 28 lbs heavier.
When I weighed myself naked, my wife said "for God's sake, put some clothes on!" Big Grin

In the past as an active firefighter between 50 and 70 pounds of gear (helmet, hood, coat, gloves, pants, boots, hand tools and short length of rope in gear pockets and an air pack) or more on fire calls. When I started in the mid 80s we were still using steel bottles for our self contained breathing apparatus. As we moved into the 90s and beyond some of our equipment got lighter.

I tried carrying the Jaws Of Life in my pocket but the Chief would not let me Wink

So I'm in the operating room all day, so basically pajamas, Merrells, two pens, and a name badge. What's that, like 2 pounds?

I am in pretty much the same boat. I do also routinely carry a knife and flashlight
When not in the OR I like the carhart scrubs with the cargo pockets.
When I change to the OR scrubs then the other stuff stays in the locker.
But then wearing that lead apron when we use fluoro can get heavy and hot after a couple hours
