Hi all, I'm helping my elderly neighbor with a problem on his 2003 Tacoma (AT, 3.4 V6, 2WD). He experienced an intermittent acceleration issue and the CEL came on. I read the codes for him with my scanner - P2127 and P2121. Throttle/accelerator position senor bank E and D. The google searches show the part number for the sensor and it works on a variety of Toyotas. I didn't see much discussion on Tacoma forums. This is an old cable style accelerator and I can see the sensor on the backside of the throttle body. Should be an easy fix. One weird google search shows another sensor/harness as part of the accelerator. Any experience on this or which part to swap out? P229

^^^ I had to do the process in the 2nd link with my last Taco. It was pretty easy and straightforward from what I recall. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. I too found that forum link. I have to back and read it again. Flesh, did you end up replacing the throttle position sensor on the backside of throttle body under the hood? Or something else? P229

I used to design throttle blade sensors, and we manufactured them as a Tier 1 supplier to Ford. The sensor can wear out. In the ancient days, the sensor was a simple voltage divider, with power, ground, and a signal terminal. The sensor divides the voltage along a plastic curved strip, covered with a special resistive film, to return a voltage proportional to the blade position. That film can and may wear out. It cannot be fixed, only replaced. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

I believe so. From what I recall, it was a very fast job involving a few bolts. Still, it was a long time ago. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer.
