I think it's pretty sad that a person can just disappear like that, only to be found by accident many years later.

It happened here near where I live.

As some might know, the hedges that make up so much of the British rural landscape are not only fabulously old in real terms, many of them are also protected historical in their own right. Each species that makes up an old hedge takes about a hundred years to establish itself, and there are many many miles of hedge with six or seven species of hedge-bush. Go figure.

Anyhow, while they can't be removed, they have to be cared for, and it CAN take years for the local county to get around to tidying them up. Whilst doing this in one stretch, they found the partly-clothed skeletal remains of a man in later middle-age with an unusual necklace still around his neck. Investigations showed that he had been a familiar sight walking along the highway, the main North-South link called the A1.

Back in the seventies, that is.

His name was unknown, but there were still people who recognised him from his unusual necklace in the form of a crucifix of some kind, and he was finally buried wearing it.

The hedge was about twenty feet away from a busy lay-by, itself situated in loop off the main road.

Hard to believe they could not smell a dead body and not have a fly infestation.

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Maybe Mr. Kuklinski had somebody put him on the outside recently.

Because son, it is what you are supposed to do.
