My wife's 2017 Odyssey van headlights were getting a little hazy so I got them all cleaned up and sealed and decided to replace the stock bulbs with Silverstar Ultras but even they seem to stink at putting out any decent light.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by my new SUV that puts out a million lumens via LED and the light is strong and bright and goes far. These don't seem to do any of that.

Is there anything on the market now that is better than the Silverstars? Or what would it take to convert to LED here? She needs more light output, it almost seems a little on the unsafe side.

I have had good luck with this company. They have telephone support. Here is your 2017 Honda lights. Low beam LED are $80.00. In my opinion good beam direction & cutoff is as important as brightness.

I've seen good reports on Auxito LED bulbs. Bonus, for most sizes, they're cheaper than the equivalent Silverstar option.
They claim a 1:1 position of the LED chip to the filament on an incandescent bulb.

I recall putting LED bulbs in my F150, and it waqs a massive improvement. And I only got flashed once, and was pulling a heavily loaded trailer at the time, so I was a bit nose-up.

yes once you go LED it's hard to go back to Halogen, amazing how much difference there is between the tech.

Caution about putting LED bulbs in non LED housings, you may not get the results you want other than a whiter light, and in some cases LED's in non LED housings can improperly reflect and blind oncoming traffic.

Just be sure whatever you get works properly with the reflectors in your vehicle.

We switched from the stock halogens in our Subaru Outback to LED's from Termitor:

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=ter...er_ci_cl-br-left_2_8

There should be a tool in Amazon to look up your vehicle to find out whether LED's will work for you and your particular vehicle.

Note we have NEVER been flashed by oncoming traffic so I know we are not blinding others which was very important to us.

Not my daughter either, I put them in her previous car too. No problems after adjusting them correctly

I went with the Auxito LED’s in our 2012 Liberty after driving it one night. Normally I don’t drive it when it’s lights are on and couldn’t believe how bad it was. My wife assumed it was due to her night vision getting worse, it was more than that.

Halogen bulbs lose their output as they age. I changed my Wrangler over to LED’s after the second time I replaced the halogens. No regrets.

Any concerns about heat with vehicles that came with halogen? Should I keep power (Watt) ratings at or below factory bulbs? Is that power rating an equivalency like residential LED bulbs claiming 60W incandescent equivalent?

Also I think some of the ratings listed are dubious...one linked earlier claims 40,000 lumens from 45W, while another claims only 6,000 lumens from 60W.

I put beamtech led bulbs in the my last car that could take bulbs from amazon.

It was an amazing difference how they lit up the road.

I had no problem with other drivers as I aimed they low.

See my prior post above. The Termitors we got have built in fans and have been utterly wonderful. They are car specific so be sure to make sure you enter your make, model, etc to ensure you don't have problems.

Did the main and fogs on our Expedition with these.
Not been flashed at all, and significant improvement in visibility

You want unsafe. How about entitled ASSHOLES who drive around with their million lumen High Beams on. It make me wish I still had that 1977 Buick Riviera with it's 10mph steel box beam "Bumper" with hydraulic damping cushions, I would veer straight into that ASSHOLE.

Yes, it really does piss me off. I also think that LED headlights that don't conform to the European Standards for Glare Avoidance should be 100% Banned. In Europe they have, I think it's Lidar based, systems that turn off any LED element that is pointing at an oncoming vehicle and producing this shadow effect doesn't blind the driver approaching you.

I've stopped counting.

Philips Xtreme were always better than Silverstars. Osram Nightbreaker's are great. Stick with the wattage your headlights were designed for.

Just don't get aftermarket LED's which are going to blind the crap out of oncoming drivers.

I went with Beamtech from Amazon.

My LEDs don’t blind anyone because of the beam cutoff and they’re aimed properly.
