This has not been a good year.

Between 1 and 29 January I attended 6 funerals for people I knew.

On 30 January a company that I had 11 years with eliminated my entire team and 40 others in a downsizing. I learned last week a 2nd round is coming.

The industry has been difficult as many companies have done the same. I've lost good opportunities due to sudden decisions to freeze hiring or downsize. I found out Friday another great opportunity that I was beyond number one for is on indefinite hold due to a hiring freeze. Another short term opportunity that some here have assisted with may also be on hold.

At 0311hrs on Saturday morning I got a panicked call from my best friends wife. He was gone. They did everything they could but couldn't save him. He was more than a friend, a brother doesn't even come close. He was a member of the family. We walked many of the same paths in different ways. We were always there for each other, no matter what. We helped each other through very dark times, and could make each other die laughing with a single word.

... and today, the video card in my laptop has gone wonky and it won't recognize the HDMI port so I can't connect my 2nd monitor.

I wonder when this train wreck will stop.....

I’m so very sorry. Yes, it has been a tough year- for me, the deaths started in November and kept up through last week. I’m in a holding pattern on sadness.
Work sounds very stressful as well- I hope that works out for you.

Hang in there…

May the Lord bless you and keep you;
May he let His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
May He lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace. Amen

That is pretty tough. I hope things turn around soon for you.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
